XOR is still being judged by the masses

Default Mobility X600 (overheating?)

I just bought a brand new Compaq Presario X6000 bundled with a 128MB Radeon Mobility X600 PCI Express Video Card. Great right... well I'm not sure. I just installed and loaded up Return to Castle Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory, and it ran okay for a bit, then it locked up the entire system (to the point of having to physically shut down the machine). Subsequent executions of the game lock it up even quicker, which leads me to believe it's a heat issue (I never got a VPU recovery either, I have since turned that feature off). And I'm not just running off the internal fans, I have a lapcool2 hooked up venting hot air constantly away from the machine. I mean within a matter of 3 minutes the game will hardlock.

Has anyone had any similar issues? Does anyone have any advice on what I might be able to do to remedy the situation? I have no way of knowing the internal tempature of the machine, as the BIOS is fairly stripped down, and apparently there are no sensors...

Here is a little info about my system:

DirectX 9.0c
Windows 2000 SP4
Pentium 4 3.2GHz w/HT (currently turned on)
1GB PC3200 DDR RAM

128MB Radeon Mobility x600
BIOS Version - 008.019.004.001 (2004/12/07)
2D Driver Version - 6.14.10.6476
Display Driver Version - 8.053.1-040918m-018218C
Control Panel Version - 6.14.10.5120

Okay, this may or may not be overheating... I ran ET in windowed mode and ran through some tests.

#1 Hosting a local game of my own ran fine (no crashes as of yet)
#2 Joining an empty server seemed to run fine.
#3 Joining a populated server generates a doctor watson error (4079) after somne time, and another app "Error" runs directly afterwards (I'm assuming it writes an event into the Application log), at which point the system crashes and burns.

** It actually looks like this might be a PunkBuster Issue... are there any newer video drivers I can download and try?
