Default Media files not playing from websites.

Ok...

I have no idea when this started, but for some reason IE will not play streaming files at all anymore, quicktime, windows media... none. I expect this in FF with no streaming ability... but IE?

I put up a website.... such as this, and it doesn't play in either browser. Anyone have any ideas as to why? It seems to load in fine, but it doesn't PLAY.

I use windows 98SE btw, though I'm hoping to get a new computer by monday.

When you get one that spawns windows media player , can you actually right click, select play and have it do so?
When you right click, do you get the option "Error details" or is it grayed out?

Sounds like the mime settings are messed up or something.

I get an error details.

Windows Media Player cannot play this file. Connect to the Internet or insert the removable media on which the file is located, and then try to play the file again.

Default ..............

In windows media player

1. On the Tools menu, click Options.
2. In the Player tab, select the Connect to the Internet (overrides other commands) check box.

Have you recently changed your "Cookies" settings in your browser or bumped up your privacy/security settings?
