Reviews are all pretty glowing its an amazing part considering the core count. Only 105w tdp when I fully expected 125-140w. And only 20w more under load than the 9900k with half the cores.

Yet, overclocked to 4.4 all cores, vs 5.2 on the 9900k, it is 17 watts less than the 9900k...

The 4.4 GHz OC that Gamer's Nexus does there is a stupid overclock. With the way Ryzen works, if you dropped the core clock to 4.3 GHz you could cut 0.1v from the core voltage and maybe 50w from the power consumption. At 4.2 GHz it probably wouldn't draw any more than it does at stock (potentially even less than stock) but run a couple hundred MHz faster under full load. On top of that, I don't think the voltage they're using is even safe for continuous operation. It would be OK for Zen+, but for 7nm Zen 2 it's too much. So, honestly I don't even know what the point is for running at those settings? GN has a history of testing very aggressive Ryzen overclocks. I just hope that there aren't too many clueless users out there who just copy what they're doing.

In any case, you could run a much more reasonable overclock that was about 2% slower, but which had substantially lower voltage and power consumption.

Looks to be a good cpu. Hopefully it wont be limited on the 25th, seems even some reviewers didnt get a sample. I will def be snagging one of these to play with.

I expect these will sell out fast as those highly binned chiplets can be sold at greater margin in EPYC CPUs.

So basically if you want to game go with Intel.

basically if you game on a 2080 ti at 1080p midrange game settings go with a Intel cpu

for all others that use ultra game settings and 4k or 1440p or have less than a 2080 ti it don't matter much at all
go with what ever you want

the real question is why support Intel now when they were the ones over pricing their CPU's for years and giving us 10% or less upgrades for years because AMD had nothing at the time

Because I didn't support them then. I bought a 4770k back in the day and it survived up until this last year in my main rig. It's now in a kiddo's rig. I got the 9900k because the cost of going with it and a new motherboard and ram was a better price than what AMD was offering.

By the way, those AMD motherboard prices still haven't dropped yet...
