Default Why does my car sound like it has a supercharger?

My car does NOT have a supercharger (2007 Pontiac G6 GT 3.5L v6) but the sound from inside the cabin sounds very similar to one. The weird thing is, I can only hear it INSIDE the car and only with the windows rolled up and it starts at about 1500rpm. If I roll the windows down or step outside the car and have somebody rev the engine, the sound cannot be heard. It's a very noticeable high pitch sound.

This all started when I had my alternator and serpentine belt replaced. Any ideas what it could be?

Belt, pulleys, or alternator whine.

Have your mechanic recheck their work.

My truck had a weird whine like this, and it was one of the exhaust clamps not tightened all the way, dealer messed it up. Couldn't hear it when stopped, but when driving it would whistle like R2D2.

Just speculation, but I agree with Clockwork. Sounds like electrical interference or alternator issue.

The resonator on the G6 is notorious for the whining noise.

Power steering pump, low power steering fluid, bearing in pulley, or timing chains. All can make similar noises to superchargers.

Fluid in Power Steering looks to be at a normal level. All of my pulleys were recently replaced too (for nearly $500 the thieves).
