Default Still Undecided if I should go back to Android?

It's been 3 years since I had my last Android phone and iPhones have left me overall satisfied, if not overly impressed because of its not so innovative changes to the UI since notched phones became a thing.

I prefer the Galaxy S10e because of the flat screen, but I can't help but think. Am I interested in the phone just because it's a different ecosystem? How is the "upgrade" worth it? So far I am still undecided because I obviously can't justify it. Am I seriously about to get a lower dpi screen and half the storage just because I want a slightly better camera?

Might as well wait half a year for the new iPhone? But then again I'd still have to live with the notch. Currently have an iPhone X 256GB BTW.

Decisions, decisions.

I don't miss iOS at all. I liked it well enough when I had an iPhone, but Android is so much better now.

I like them both. I was on Android for a few years, now I'm back on iOS. I'll probably switch back to 'droid in a year or two. I suffer from SOS (shiny object syndrome).

I could never go back to iOS after switching to Android. File management and customization being big bonuses in my book.

And excellent speed and battery life. (Note 9 user, I charge every other day)

I prefer android but apple has by far the best long-term support. That would be the only reason I'd ever switch.

Ever see what that support entails? Losing features, killing battery life, slowing down like crazy.

Sure, they will update the OS, but everything else about their support is absolutely terrible. Just watch some Louis Rossmann videos if you want dozens of examples.

Same can be said for Android support. If the manufacturer isn't providing updates, there's probably a reason.

Well android also gives you the option of custom roms.

I had an old galaxy s2 which i was going to replace, so I decided to play around with expecting to brick it before I got a new phone.
Went from out of date android to the latest android and went form barely a day battery life to 2 days...gave another 2 years out of it.

Now I buy an android with custom roms in mind. And roms like cyanogen are quite secure

Android all the way for me. I've got the S10 with the one UI and Android Pie 9 is excellent. The rest of my family have Apple devices and when they ask me to update or sort them out I look at IOS and think Ugh. Don't get me wrong I've got an iPad Air I inherited off the wife and a Mac Mini but I much prefer Android and would never buy an iPhone. Just my 2c's worth

Bought my Pixel 2 because Google guarantees updates for a minimum of 3 years. The other manufacturers have little incentive to support legacy models because they want you to buy a new one every year.

Samsung updates for two years (thus the perpetual update cycle)
That said, I think they push out security updates for much longer, not certain, but is my memory.

Yeah I think you're right, want to say it's 3 years of security updates.

OnePlus is 2 years of OS updates and 3 years of security.

Ok you convinced me guys, I'd most probably pick up the S10 Plus this week. The S10e isn't worth it after all cause it's simply not "different enough" compared to my iPhone X.

Quick question: so what screen protector do you use for your S10 / S10 Plus? The ultrasonic fingerprint scanner doesn't work with glass screen protectors right?

After Gorilla glass 2.5 I am no longer a fan of screen protectors. Unless you keep your keys in the same pockets as your phone I do not see the point. Phone case yes to protect from falls. But I like to touch the actual screen. Guess I am weird that way. I have not has a scratch on a screen in years.

Gorilla Glass is great.
I used to use a Nokia Lumia 930 Windows phone, and I never put a screen protector on it. Hell I never even had a case for it either, the thing was built like a brick (Had an fairly thick aluminum frame, plastic back, gorilla glass front, had some heft to it).

My iPhone on the other hand...screen protector (well more like screen film) and an otterbox case (Since these things are somewhat fragile contrary to what Apple likes to tell people)

iPhones use gorilla glass.. They just dont advertise it.

You can check JerryRigEverything's youtube page and Apple scratches right where all the android phones using GG do. That said, I have scratched both my iPhone X and XS screens. GG is not good enough to go without a screen protector if you really care about scratches.

Gorilla Glass scratch resistance is pretty much the same every generation. The 3rd gen was better and the latter is more crack resistance.

I rather have more scratch resistance than crack resistance. You can get both if they stop using thinner glass in every new smartphone.
