Been playing through story mode on Super Mario Maker 2, that game is ridiculously fun. Just playing Saturday I got 75% of my castle built.

Is even worse when u know nvidia is selling the same hardware at double the speed for cpu and gpu and with a real controler( no screen and no stupid motion controllers) at 180...
I've got an Xbox One S and a Switch... My Switch gets more play, by far.

The Nvidia you're talking about doesn't have Nintendo games.

I have all 3 and the Switch is the main time grabber because it can go any place I want to be. That and it plays odd ball games the big two do not want on their systems.

Yup Nintendo is good with that, and replay values.

On the other consoles you play a game for 5 hrs, see the best graphics, experience the best atmosphere, finish it and then never touch it again.

all the while im still playing Mario Kart and Smash and stuff because its
"low res" shenanigans are more mindlessly fun than uber high res gore fests on more powerful machines.

Maybe its also cuz im older and I don't really have the patience to sit around and play a game for more than 2hrs at a time max anymore. (which all these high rest atmospheric games require you to pay myuch attention to....and they also drag the time with tons of cutscenes and videos....)

I think that's a lot of it, I don't have time to game really anymore, unless it's on the go.

9.5/10

Time to fire the old switch on. Keep in mind this game apparently requires the player to invest a large amount of time via multiple play throughs to acquire the entire story.

Fire Emblem: Three Houses Review
An incredible amount of choice both on and off the battlefield.

Verdict
Fire Emblem: Three Houses succeeds in its ambitious telling of a land at war helmed by captivating leaders, in which no side has all the answers. Its tense battles are made all the more harrowing thanks to new strategy elements, and the colorful cast of troops you send into the fray are incredibly charming. With a new take on training and bonding with your units, and the many activities and options available to sample, it’s absolutely begging to be played multiple times.

Played through the prologue and then explored a little while forwarding the story (3 houses). Seems like a tight game if this is your cup-of-tea? A timer to auto-forward conversations would be cool. Having to constantly hit a key with the accompanying 'click' sound kind of gets irritating with all the dialogue in-game.

Fire Emblem seems to appeal to specific audience, as its a tactical grid style RPG.

Ive played the Wii version (Radiant Dawn) and its actually quite a hard game. (I keep losing guys and i'd prefer to keep them alive for the next set of battles)

Yeah, the permadeath is a turn off for me sadly.

The permadeath is optional in the newer titles.

Does it make the game a bit too easy? Is it was balanced around permadeath.

You could always play on hard with permadeath on.

As a Fire Emblem snob, I firmly believe that Classic is the way to go. Three Houses has mechanisms to make it far less punishing than in previous games (specifically a very generous rewind-time system to erase screwups)

Doesn't feel like it matters when even the permadeath mode has that feature.

I have great memories of playing Link's Awakening on a banana yellow gameboy pocket. When Link's Awakening came out, I though Nintendo could\should sell it at full AAA price. Ironically, they are selling the remake at full price, and I just don't think it's in the same league as something I'd pay 60 bucks for.

The original\current Switch has eggcellent backpack portability, and the new lite really doesn't look like it will improve pocket portability to a meaningful degree. Other than being available in bananana yellow, I don't really see the point. I don't like motion controls in general, but Switch does have one really big first party title that uses them and uses them well.

my $.02

Not sure about that for Links Awaking, Its a full remake just using the story so I can see it going for full price. I ended up buying 2 of the 2 game Nintendo vouchers for $100 each but discounted because you can buy $50 eShop gift cards for $42. So basically $42 for new AAA release. Never played Links awaking so its a full new game for me anyways. I will be picking up Luigi's Mansion 3 with the other voucher I have. The voucher deal ended yesterday though.

If you enjoyed a Link to the Past and Link between Worlds, then Link's Awakening is probably a solid buy.

But I agree.. even if I don't play my switch more than my pc or my Xbox Onex Nintendo makes the best games.. to bad that in 2019 we still play these games at 720p with low and v low settings and not use the technology we already have. Think at a Zelda comparable in graphics with RED Dead 2...heck.. since it costs as much as a ps4 pro i would love a 1080p console with ps4 pro power... real controller, big hhd, maybe vr.. i bet Nintendo can do so much more in VR ect.

The shield does have nintendo games though, it has some hd ports of classic wii and gc titles.

They are not available worldwide since they are region locked to China, but they do exist.

But then the hardware wouldn't sell. Only reason it's selling good is because it's a Hybrid and not a pile of **** afterthought like the Wii U.

Though the lack of OS updates is a royal pain in teh ass.

True. Last 3 generations they forgot how to make a great console. Because N64 and GameCube didn't do so good they are afraid to take a chance and build a powerful console. I can understand that.. then why the high price on such low spec hardware? Why we don't have a proper controller( that was always Nintendo first priority) and why why why.. we don't have backward compatibility with old games we already have on their store?? ((

Yes but, then why the high price? If it was around 200 maybe 250 I could understand.. but not at the price of a ps4 pro...

Is a PS4 Pro portable? How much do you think a portable PS4 Pro would cost? You're talking apples to oranges. Despite all your hand wringing, the Switch IS a great console, it's selling like a great console too.

It's a good console with great games.

Although it does not make it truly portable, the ps4 pro does have a 3rd party freesync monitor. It renders in 1080p, and is 11.6 inches. I actually have one for my ps3. Think its called the G-Story?

Why we don't have a proper controller( that was always Nintendo first priority) and why why why.. we don't have backward compatibility with old games we already have on their store?? ((

Yes but, then why the high price? If it was around 200 maybe 250 I could understand.. but not at the price of a ps4 pro...
It's because it has a screen and it's a handheld device, just because it's less power doesn't mean it should be cheaper.

Mobile hardware is less powerful because... it's mobile. That doesn't mean it should automatically cost less, that's the price of having mobile hardware.

Getting decent compute power in smaller form factors is always more expensive. Just look at laptops. The smaller, thinner, lighter laptops cost more than the bulky ones because it costs more to manufacture the same (or better) quality in the smaller form factors.

The next switch should use a 300w gpu! Sure it'll burn your fingers and melt the screen, but it should get at least 10 minutes of battery life.

Because console price isn't correlated with hardware power (like in a PC).
PC Masterrace mindset doesn't work with consoles.
