Default 512GB Flash drives

I need two 512GB flash drives, on Amazon either the reviews are sh!t or the price goes through the roof... chances are probably no one here has one but thought I give it a shot, anyone have one they like (512GB or higher)?

Amazon Search

I would avoid Amazon for something like this. They seem to be a scammer's paradise for overseas knock-offs these days. You can't even trust the rating system. You need to look closely at the reviews; sometimes they are for a completely different product to falsely inflate the score.

That said, 512Gb thumb drives are pretty expensive everywhere. Check NewEgg. I trust those reviews over Amazon.

Unless you need the thumbstick format I would put a SATA or NVMe drive in a USB enclosure. Should cost about the same but will be significantly faster.

Go with name brand only with the fastest speeds your USB pot can do. Do you have a thunder port? Thumb drives of that size are slow. Well they are not but they seem slow to me in this day and age.

I get 256 drives from SanDisk 3.0 or 3.1, the fastest I can find on sale at the time. I do not go for the anything larger than that right now. If I do I switch tech to SSD portable drives.

Pretty much this... I used a Fantom drive which seemed to be good... until it failed after about 3 months of use.. I used it as an offline backup of my work emails (I had about 8 years worth of emails stored). Thought I had lost everything until I discovered a second backup at work.

Fantom replaced it and the replacement hasn't failed, but I don't put anything of importance on it.

You get what you pay for. Many of the cheap drives are capacity-hacked, meaning Windows might report 512Gb capacity but they really are 32Gb or whatnot. Those will always fail as soon as you tried to use them.

Well you wont get 1TB its provisioning and Windows reads it at which is something like 931GB. Read write is 400/300 if using USB 3.1.

I use 1 for my backup drive attached to my NAS so a backup of my backup. And the other I use for Windows installs + drivers for 4 different t systems and 8 systems at work.
