ErrorS is still being judged by the masses

Default MS is gonna lose a fan if they continue this (small rant)

Ok. Windows update, windows movie maker and who knows what else.

I multitask. Most of the time I'm reading 4 different sites about 4 different subjects, I have IRC open, maybe an MMORPG, etc.

I went to download Windows Updates.. no big deal. But when it started installing the updates that dreaded "YOU CANT MINIMIZE ME, *****" window came up. The "installing updates" only had a small "X" to click, you couldn't click on the IE window behind it to minimize, right clicking on the task bar to get a menu only responded with that stupid "DING", not giving me any options. You just can not minimize this window, can't move it.. it just sits there in your face taking forever to do it's thing.. UGH .. I don't see the point in this? It KILLS multitasking for me.. so now I know I can't run windows update when I'm doing ANYTHING. Sure, I can have an active window on top of windows update, but it makes it harder to do what I have to do. If I accidently misclick outside of the border of a window, stupid Windows update becomes to active window.. it just pisses me off.

It's just Windows update, so I didn't worry.. how often do people run windows update? So I didn't care, until I found out Movie Maker does the SAME EXACT THING when it's encoding a movie.. Thank God there are movie maker alternatives, but now I know MS has some stupid reason for doing this, they're not going to stop with Windows Update and Movie maker. They're going to completely kill the Windows GUI for me with Longhorn.

It's too bad Linux is such a horrible OS

and is there anywhere I can complain to MS about this? Like.. product feedback or something?

Why bother? You think they'll listen to you? Seriously, they don't care. Once they have your money, as long as you don't sue them they don't give a damn.

Thanks Chrono..

and they don't already have my money for Longhorn Dassassin. I'm sure they overlooked it or something.. who knows. I'll just be really unhappy if they make this a new trend with their installers, updaters, encoders, etc.. I like Windows, but this completely ruins it for me :|

Powermenu lets you minimize any kind of window to tray, and a few more things. 100kb.

I love powermenu. One of the best small, free apps I've found. PM me if you want the zip, or do a google search.

Hold Windows key (you know.. the one with the Windows logo on it.. it does serve a purpose), and press D.

Bam. All windows minimized.

Very useful when you want to do something while installing a game.

Windows Key + D = 'Show Desktop'
Windows Key + M = 'Minimize All'

Both do the same thing.

Windows Key + F = 'Find'
Windows Key + E = 'Explorer' (windows explorer)
Windows Key + R = 'Run'

...etc. Those are the ones I use from time to time.

Don't fault linux for your shortcommings espically since so many of us Tuxers have it working flawlessly. Hell I even got a gcc 2.x part binary/part source module to compile in gcc 3.3 AND got it working. It was a minor headache at best and I don't have to coninually tell my computer which LAN it's part of, it's simply smart enough to know where to go and how to do it.

If you're going to just complain about it, go back to windows 98, or get a mac with mac OS X.

See.. you, a pro-Linux person, have to duel boot WinXP and Linux to make your computer 100% usable

WinXP users dont HAVE TO dual boot WinXP and Linux to make their PCs usable

Thats B.S., the only reason people dual boot is to play games on XP, and that wouldnt be nececarry if ATi made some decent drivers (like nVidias).
