Default make entry-level compact executive sedans great again (2021 Acura TLX Type S)

this might be the shortest teaser of all time

I thought the type S concept was pretty slick looking, but some of the leaked production pics of this car seems...underwhelming.

Acura just doesnt have enough differentiation and identity from its Honda base to feel like nothing more than a luxed up Honda.
Ditto Nissa/Infiniti.

Perhaps the TLX could change that....

Toyota/Lexus is the most distinct from each other of all the Japanese brands. But Lexus is updating their cars WAY too slowly.

Hyundai/Genesis might be another set of brands where the distinction is strong. They're just firing on all cylinders.

damn...not much rage3d love for acura i see

i don't particularly have any affinity for acura. it's kinda cool to see companies still doing new things with ICE engines in the age of hybrid/electrification of things.

I like that rear, looks aggressive. If there were an AWD version, or if it were a RWD platform, I'd definitely not slag it. If it's FWD only then meh, it's just another FWD Acura sedan.

edit: The shape of the taillight accents is very Chrysler 200...

Can't see how far it extends around the sides, but it looks more Jaguar XE'ish to me:

Looks good, AWD too. Love the side profile, where it's like the cabin is pushed to the back.

The Type S with a 3.0l twin turbo V6 will surely be a beast.

I think thats a trait with many RWD cars.

The Acura TLX however is FWD so its a bit unusual to see that kind of design element in a FWD car.
Most of the time the engine length is short because they dont need that much space for the way the engine sits.

Is there any confirmation it's a FWD based layout? It's possible they did as Audi does on the A4, it's actually a AWD layout, with the engine mounted like a RWD car, and the FWD models just don't have a rear axle.

It's not bad, and it's WAY better than the stuff they've been putting out recently.

Best looking sedan to me is the Alpha, but they're about as reliable as a 15 year old Ford. Hell the local Hendrick dealer stopped selling them and Fiat, because sales were so bad due to reliability. That store is now the used auto center.

The Stinger is impressive, but I don't care for the way it looks after seeing a few of them on the road.

Hey, you asked...

And it's a rigged question. I'd rather choose neither one, but you didn't give me that choice.

Dude, I got to see his private collection a few months ago. He owns so many 1st cars off the line. There's a few exotics there, but most of it is classics. I wish it was open to the public, so I could take my daughter. I managed to get in with a car club as part of a charity event.

Sadly no photos are allowed.
