Meh, the CPU market is stagnant, nothing really impressive, performance boost maybe 10%.

Higher TDP though? Haswell 4790K is 88w this is 7w more? That means hotter even though its node change? Am I missing something here?

I think until some major breakthrough occurs in regards to CPU logistics, there isn't going to be any more "major" jumps in performance. Just lots of little incremental improvements and tweaks.

Urfgh, still no 6-8 core CPUs for the 'mainstream' market? Come on Intel.

I've been rolling with 6-8 (x2 HT) Xeons for years now, I'd want some mainstream versions for gaming PCs.

DDR4 plus rumours of 20% or more IPC increase. I'll probably grab one, as I'm always desperate for more IPC performance. I hope DDR4 has better latencies by then, last time I looked they were horrid.

~15% higher IPC at 200mhz lower clocks. If it can oc to say 4.8, that should be the equivalent of Haswell at around 5.6GHz.

My 2600K runs at 4.3G on stock voltage and near 5GHz if I overvolt. It's 4 years old.

It did at that time. However given heat is now 38C and my putter is against a wall, it was overheating until I reduced it down to 4.2 gigawatts.
