I still prefer to play PC at a desk. FPS and RTS. For games on the TV I prefer console.

That's why it's good to have purpose built PC's.

I just recently built a new computer (using a Corsair 780T case that's frickin' huge ) and it sits right next to my 65" 4k TV. Most of the games I play are first or 3rd person shooters, perfect for that. I use an Xbox 1 wireless controller. Why on earth would I degrade myself to console peasant status to play Assassins Creed Origins on a weak, low end AMD system masked as a console when I can play the same game, under the same conditions, in full PC master race glory?

I also have an office PC that's purpose built for VR in addition to office and productivity use. My old 1080 powers that, not just great for VR but also games that require keyboard/mouse, like Diablo 3. Or the new Battlezone remasters that just came out.

I built my wife's computer for her office work, I built my daughter's computer for her games, I just like building computers

Yeah this console peasant has 9 1080 Tis. I also don’t want to ruin my bedroom with a big PC case next to my TV set.

9 1080Ti's purchased with credit used for mining, not gaming, in which you'll be negative for quite some time still now that bitcoin mining is in a downturn. You'd be more profitable if you HADN'T bought those 9 1080Tis at inflated prices , and then perhaps you'd still be part of the PC gaming master race.

Or even a midsize case or cube. Either would be about the size of a decent subwoofer. Have a subwoofer on one side of the tv, the cube the other.

Better sell them quick while you can still get around MSRP vs. losing your posterior after the 1180 drops.

Yeh I've built rigs for the TV before but I rarely used them tbh. Occasionally I'll use my PC connected to TV but most of the time just play console exclusives on it.

Bought a xim4 a few years ago but the novelty wore off quickly for me. In the end I just found it preferable to play FPS and RTS at PC desk.

NVIDIA Has A Stock of Over A Million Next-Gen GeForce Graphics Cards Waiting To Power Gaming PCs, Report Alleges
https://wccftech.com/nvidia-million-...e-gaming-gpus/

Quote:
But current-gen inventory would play a major factor in deciding whether these next-gen GeForce cards launch in Q3 2018 or slip to Q4 2018, primed for holiday season. NVIDIA will have a range of desktop and notebook solutions based on their next-generation graphics architecture, ready for the mass gaming market. OEMs have been spotted spilling the beans on next-gen GeForce 11 series with products such as the GeForce GTX 1180 and GeForce GTX 1160, coming to their next gen gaming PCs later this fall.

Aside from that, it looks like NVIDIA can expect some sort of relief with the inventory as China’s Sichuan province has been hit by major flooding and the region alone accounts for almost 70% of the mining operations.

If there's really this overabundance of current gen cards then we should start seeing some discounting. Frankly at this point in the cycle we should be down significantly from MSRP. If the AIBs don't want to start cutting prices then they and Nvidia can just choke on all that extra inventory.

Already confirmed as fake as there is no Nvidia Letterhead or Nvidia Corp title.

Some kid on reddit probably made it.

Just bought an xbonex to see what 4K and HDR look like. Reading reviews of new 1440p HDR and freesync monitors and none of them seem to be great with HDR. Playing Battlefield 1 on console and it looks better with HDR than on my PC. Obviously that’s my opinion and very subjective.

Really enjoying Madden 18 which I can’t play on the PC anyway. Also I think there are crappy console ports for the PC and now I can choose which platform to play on. Best of both worlds really especially as the console only cost me £200+ after trading in an old iPad Air first gen I never used (typing this on my 128gb iPad Air 2). Happy Chappy indeed 😁

Just be aware that "4k" on an Xbox1 isn't really "4k" for quite alot of games. The console relies heavily on dynamic resolution to maintain framerates. Like Assassins Creed Origins, this doesn't run at 4k on Xbox1, the internal resolution dynamically drops to much less to maintain framerates.

And you're pretty much getting the equivalent of medium settings.

And you're at 30 fps.

Just keep that in mind when you think you're gaming at 4k on a $300 console of all the shortcuts it has to take to get there. Still, better than PS4 Pro and it's crappy checkerboard rendering.

And you're at 30 fps.

Just keep that in mind when you think you're gaming at 4k on a $300 console of all the shortcuts it has to take to get there. Still, better than PS4 Pro and it's crappy checkerboard rendering.
Not all games are 30fps, some do maintain 4k and its not even close to medium settings equivalent. Origins for example has worse shadows and different looking ambient occlusion (the latter could be due to hdr) otherwise save for resolution its pretty much the same. Pretty sure Gears 4 maintains 4k with equivalent to max settings on PC and doesn't drop below 30fps. My PC @4k is a no go because it runs some parts at 90fps+ and others drop to mid 20s. It's a great system and the set hardware allows for some pretty big benefits. There are so many times while playing games on it that I am honestly amazed I'm playing on a console.

Geometry, clutter, vegetation, draw distance, LOD are all downgraded on the Xbox 1 version as well. It might not be noticeable if you're just playing on Xbox, but on PC you can spot the difference immediately by going from"Ultra" to "High" or "Medium".

The games that run on 4k 60 on Xbox 1 aren't that demanding games in the first place, like Forza and Gears of War. Think a GTX 1070 would get you 4k 60fps with Forza, and the GTX 1070 is far from a 4k card.

maybe PS5 and Xbox Scarlett might do 4k well enough to buy

but at this point i'm waiting on full HDMI 2.1 support on video cards, monitors and everything before I start buying again

Geometry is the same on Ass creed, all the basic assets are the same shadow resolution is higher on PC and there is a very minor difference in draw distance that you would probably have to put them side by side to notice while playing. That's a far cry from medium and would even be quite a bit better than a generic High setting on a PC. It uses dynamic resolution but has a minimum of 1663p. That's a pretty damn good showing for a console. Not to mention that you get HDR on more titles and those with the right samsung tv's can take advantage of adaptive sync. No one is saying its better than or even equal to a PC and in a year the difference will be even greater however its not even close to your claim of medium settings. And to your OMG its not really 4k nonsense, not all PC games are able to run at 4k even with 1080ti's so OMG even the PC isn't a true 4k gaming machine!

I've seen Ass Creed Origins on xbox 1x. 1440P PC Ultra High looks better than Ass Creed Origins on Xbox 1x "4k". Of course, you'd have to be playing on Ultra High in the first place to notice the apparent differences, but the differences are noticeable one you take that step down. I can tell an immediate difference from Ultra High to High, and the Xbox1 x version looks just a bit worse than High on PC. Geometry, clutter, LOD, everything is weaker on Xbox1 X. Xbox1 X is a mix of medium/high equavalent on a PC. If you haven't seen Ultra High on PC then you don't know what you're talking about (or missing).

A 1080Ti is capable of playing more games at 4k 60fps then an Xbox1 at "fake 4k" resolutions at 30 fps. And with much higher details. Let's stop pretending the Xbox1 is a "true 4k gaming machine" and call it for what it is.

I don't think the 1180's are going to come out this year after reading about the memory shortages.

Then there is this overstock....

Nvidia-According to an article from Gadgets360, a popular technology media source, an over 300,000 GPU return was the result of a ‘top 3’ Taiwan OEM realizing the lack of demand in the computer hardware market.

Some have suggested that the recent influx of overstock GPUs will lead to a delay in the release of a new lineup of Nvidia cards, originally expected to arrive in Q2/Q3 2018. This would make sense, as Nvidia would want to sell all of the cards in their 10 series before making any large moves towards new hardware. If the aforementioned reports are accurate, Nvidia’s overstock can be worth over one hundred million dollars at MSRP prices.
