Skipping this "mid range" release and waiting for the Ti as usual. I only buy founders/reference now because I'm going to water cool the mofo anyway. Much easier to get a block that way.

Well, AMD hasn't exactly put pressure on NV. Vega 64 sort-of matches the 1080 but at 1080 Ti prices. Honestly the only reason for NV to release a new generation of cards is to switch to GDDR6.

The last time I tried to get a 1080Ti I got ****ed by newegg. Since they're available now at more reasonable prices I might get one just to hold me over, as I seriously don't think we'll see the next gen until the Fall (at the earliest) if they're just going to "talk about it" in August.

I've changed my mind. I'm leaning toward getting an 1180 when they come out. My EVGA 1080 Ti has a bum display port. So, only two out of the three DPs work. Unfortunately I need all three. I had to make do by using the stupid Intel IGP for the last port.

Pisses me off, but it's not worth taking the whole machine out of commission just to RMA the card. If I get an 1180 then I can take the 1080 Ti out and RMA it, and either pass it down to another machine, or re-sell it.

I thought you had a 1080 ti ?

…….
it's still 50 bucks more than I paid July last year with Ghost Recon: Wildlands

I've had one in my cart for 2 weeks but can't see the point got one in my 1800x system and one in my 1900x system would be the same

down to one fury x in the 1900x as I gave one to my sister but it will just have to wait in vega 7nm gaming if they do one and it is faster than the ti

and sli is s*it and I would need two water blocks or go with one 1100 buck Poseidon

That 1080Ti I tried getting a while back Newegg screwed me on the order.

Since SLI is basically dead I've essentially been gaming at 1440p (on a 65" 4k display) since a single 1080 can't handle 4k effectively for most games. I've been waiting and waiting for something next gen, meanwhile the expected release dates were getting more and more pushed back. Now there might not even be anything new this year, my patience is worn thin. At least now prices have stabilized where I can get a 1080Ti reasonably.

For a 1080Ti Strix? Which version?

I paid $809 in December for the 1632MHz clocked version, which is exactly what the cost is right now from Newegg. The OEM clock version is $780, which is your $50 cheaper than the model he bought.

In related news, I'm considering buying another new one at the same $809 to go SLI. Tired of waiting for the used market to have prices that make sense. The vast majority are still selling above $800.

Nah, utter nonsense.

Yep. NV will replace the 1080Ti with the 1180 and keep the same MSRP. Profits will increase due to the die shrink and reduction in memory modules/board complexity. Jacking the MSRP would just scare off OEM partners like Dell and HP.

the only way that 1499 price is right is if nv is going all out for mining and saying f*ck the needy ass gamers .

oh I can see nv doing it if bitcoin goes back up miners don't need a lot of driver support and they could triple profits or better

and they know by now the NVidia faithful gamers will come back in a year or two after in droves and thank them for it
or some will just pay the high prices

……..

I'm more interested in it having full HDMI 2.1 with VRR and if they kill g sync

bill has only one agenda to try and tarnish NVidia reputation on Rage3d and then go ahead and buy NV cards.
