![]() Did read that bioses are still being tuned and there are claims that the next round 1.2.0.0. will target fclk so Id wait. Its the first major revision of the ryzen core design so not surprised theres work on the bios side of things left to do. Id be happy with 3800 and think 4000 is a bit of a silicon lotto thing.

![]() There is literally no real world difference between 3600/3733/3800/4000 in gaming. You may get 1-2 FPS. You can easily achieve that by clocking your GPU. Unless you are heavy into productivity and have a dog chasing your ass to get that blender run down by 1-2 seconds I am not sure what is the point of pushing the FCLK? Would love to understand where is the real world benefit so I can try to hit this too. Anyways, MSI is still on the 1.9.0.0. And some ASUS boards with 1.2.0.0 are having severe stability issues. I don't believe a bios will magically give DDR4 4000 for all if the silicon is not willing. Unless they fix the massive over volting in the PBO2 algorithm I doubt this will be possible. |

![]() I would be happy with 3733. Kind of annoyed about being stuck at 3666. Does it matter? No, not really. Real world difference is next to nothing. (Of course, if we go down that road, gaming at 1440P there's barely a difference between a 5900X and an 8700K, or for that matter a Ryzen 3600.) I guess it's basically like getting a CPU that is a bad overclocker and only does 5.1 GHz instead of 5.2 GHz. The difference doesn't really matter, but it's annoying because you want the best. But, that's life for you, so assuming I can get it stable I'll just accept it. I am running a 1.2.0.0 bios on my B550-F so that may also be part of the issue. |

![]() I ordered a 5900x in the begining of september. Haven't received it yet. Local shop said he didn't receive any since they launched and he called his distributor today and they said he won't get them for at least 3-5 weeks. They have all my parts (mobo, ram, SSD) but I'm SOL since I can't build my setup. I asked him if he had an older used processor that he could sell me and he doesn't sell used part HOWEVER he told me he has a couple of 5800X that he usually save for complete builds and he'd be willing to sell me one since I've waited over 2 and a half month (and more if they don't receive their share of 5900). Would be 667 CDN + taxes... It would tide me over and allow me to finally build my computer. Do you think I'll be able to easily sell the used 5800 when I receive my 5900 ? It's still another 700 bucks that I wasn't planning to spend (gf is kinda against this since it cost me a lot this year for hobbies - RC Cars, new computer - 3080 + Ryzen 5000, new phone...)

![]() I would look realistically at whether your CPU is actually holding you back significantly. If not, I'd just wait and do the build once, rather than have the hassle of buying a 5800X and then needing to resell it. If you're going to do that I'd go for something inexpensive like a 3600 instead. |

![]() most rumors place Warhol (zen 3+) as coming out sometime in Q4 this year. still on AM4. more like the jump from zen to zen+ in terms of improvements then zen to zen 2 or zen 2 to 3. the 400/300 series of boards will not support it officially. small ipc gain and some clock bumps. I bet probably the big advertising thing will be an official 5ghz boost advertised, considering many 5000 cpus can already do that.

I don't really see the point in Warhol in that case, then. They can barely keep stock of what they have out now; and they're going to release a refresh on top of that? Seems strange. I'm curious what performance increases we'll see in that case, especially since this will finally HOPEFULLY be the end of AM4. Bring on AM5, Alder Lake, and DDR5 baby. Weeeeeeeeee! |

![]() I guess its either an inside joke or some cultural reference or all the cool tech names were taken for their site... but really they have some good sources for this. TPU reposted the info: https://www.techpowerup.com/278321/a...ost-over-zen-3

![]() I think the 25+% ipc gains will come from many parts from ddr5 to pcie5 to 5nm and higher clocks and bigger transistor budget per core ect... its not that hard to see all those things come together to give us another big boost in ipc. Warhol will just be Zen3+, like Zen+ was to first gen Zen, but may make sense for those of us who dont care to pay crazy banana prices for cpus right now. I think next time we can expect amd to devote much more wafer allocation to cpus.

![]() One of the most interesting rumors about Zen 4 was the little core inside a big core design, which is a bit different route I believe that Alder Lake is going, which seems like a little core outside a big core design. Such a set up could mean better scalability with the little cores. Meaning they may not have to have a set reduced instruction set.

![]() Yes supply has been good past couple of weeks. I heard Detroit, Michigan and some NY MCs had a ton of stock. However, if it were me I would buy a 10850K or 10900K combo deal at an MC, save money and hassle and call it a day. Actually, would even get a Z590 board and then return the processor within their return policy and get RKL in March or something. |
