Default Microsoft funding CyanogenMod?

http://www.techtimes.com/articles/30...ean-google.htm

Quote:
Microsoft is reportedly taking part in a $70 million investment round in CyanogenMod, an Android ROM creator that is one of the most popular alternative versions of Android.
Interesting...

This could be a big blow to the custom android rom world. A huge chunk of the custom roms use cyanogenmod as their base.

Why would it be a huge blow? They don't have a majority stake...

I stopped using Cyanogenmod when i couldn't get a decent battery life on my sgs2, haven't used a cyanogenmode based rom ever since, and completely stopped using custom roms after i got a nexus 4 last year

Opposite of my experience, also a Galaxy S2 user. Better battery life and smoother performance. Still on it.

It's been no secret that Google has been trying to keep the GAPPs away from non-approved Android ROMs.
