Looks awful. I honestly forgot all about it until yesterday when Engadget made a post about it.

I stopped using a watch since 2003-04 and haven't looked back. These smartwatches and their less than stellar battery life is not going to change my mind to start using them again.

I personally have no need for a smart watch, but that's me.

How much of it's functionality would you actually use? Can you live with the design?

I'd sit down and compare line item by line item what I would need/want it for, and start from there. If it's a good match for your budget and needs, go for it.

If not, go android for a real device.

That's pretty hip and thus not for me.

I don't think a "smart watch" is for everyone.
I've had the kick starter model Pebble for a while and if I lost it I would buy another.

It is great for business meetings when I need to covertly check for messages.
The number one reason I love it it is for golf. Having the yardage on my wrist is great along with tactile message notifications.

Why would it ever be a consideration for a gym watch?

This is not something you wear to the gym, or most boardrooms, or scuba diving, or playing polo, or being deployed on service, or... etc.

Concerning the aesthetics, I don't even think it looks "hip", just toy-like. I guess I'd call it juvenile.

You will end up both using and charging your phone less alongside a wearable.

Re: the Apple Watch, reserving judgement till I see it in action. I don't particular like some of the design decisions (far too many ways to interact with it for a watch), but I DO like NFC. Android Wear devices should have all had NFC by default, but only a few do.

I think this year we will have an iOS, Android, Palm OS and Tizen based device shootout. Apple will sell the most but will it actually be better?

I am a major Apple b___h though gotta say... the Apple Watch design looks horrendous. Way too bulky for Apple's target market. How such a thing can be hip is beyond me.

Real life pictures of it look nice, http://www.hodinkee.com/blog/hodinke...e-watch-review

As a watch nerd that owns entirely too many watches, I'm getting one of these. It will be the least amount of money I'll end up spending on a watch in the last decade.

It looks awful in every single shot in that picture. It looks especially awful next to an actual watch.

Looks too bulky compared to my normal watch - do not like, looks bad.

Also I don't really see the point of it if you have recharge it daily, I already hate having to recharge my phone every few days.

This one. The Moto 360 is fantastic looking, and the LG G Watch also looks better than the Apple one.

This covers it for me I think. Some configurations don't look bad at all, to me anyway. Just too bulky and my need for it would be fairly limited.

Not exactly. Some of the Samsung watches aren't horrible. I owned a MotoACTV for a while until it was misplaced/stolen. Granted, I never would have bought one of those, but I won it in a Motorola contest, and I used it a lot, it was quite good, even for a big square hunk of device.

this is how a smartwatch should look like

Until then I wont even look at them
If I want a watch I would buy a fricking watch

What I want is a SMARTwatch.. the future.. not something from the 20 century
