I remember a few years back when a price cut came everyone was jumping for joy. now everyone's just putting it in negative light. I don't know about you people, but I don't have money trees growing outside my window, so any price cut is a good thing.

Maybe the benchies we've seen of it against the 8800GT are close to the truth. Lowering the price could be a way to attract buyer interest as Scott has said....trying to stay just enough below the GT's price to hopefully sway those of us on the fence about what to upgrade to.

Seriously though... I don't like the idea of getting a first gen anything, but maybe dx10.1 isn't so next gen from dx10. This is sounding like a good upgrade from a 1950Pro.

What's great about this is "street prices" will even be more competitive, imho.

The "idea" of 199 dollar 3870's or less or 150 dollar 3850's or less is totally insane for this performance, feature-set, power out-put. For all the things i didn't like about the 2900 XT -- man, do I love these products.

What a frigg'n turn around in my mind.

Think about it: What did ATI/AMD really offer from the 150+ price-points 6 months ago? Nothing really compelling.........and now see tons of advantages.........and reasons to buy an ATI/AMD product here.
