Ran against a CTS-V. Missing from the video description is that he had a pulley swap and e85 tune.

Signed up for the first 1/2 mile event of the season a couple days ago, and getting fired up. Can't remember what I've shared already, but here are a few from past events.

Running against a friend of mine in a mostly stock 2008 C6 Corvette. I gave him a 4sec head start, starting from when I saw the green lights.

A race against a modified Ford GT. Major clutch issues this year where I overheated it and left my foot on the clutch at a stop and baked high spots into the discs. It would grab from a stop if I dumped it due to shear clamping force, but was slipping a little at top end. Lost 7mph this season due to clutch problems. Tore the drivetrain down over the winter and upgraded the clutch.

And then utter decimation last year by a million horsepower Challenger...

Some video from a car behind me during a mock race... Unfortunately my car broke during the race so you'll see it crawling down the main straight about halfway through the video (its the Honda in front of the camera car at the start for those who don't know what I'm driving)...

First motorcycle track day, last session of the day. I pick up the pace a little bit after passing the guy at 7:00 in the video. Still slow, but a lot different than the first few sessions. Think I'm going to make a comparison video tomorrow.

Not to trivialize their skill, but if you ask any racing driver (motorcycle or car), they will tell you the faster they go the slower things seem.

I've been wanting to buy one for a little over a year now. If Triumph doesn't update their Daytona line and replace their aging 675 model with a 765 (like the street triple), I'm jumping ship.

I mean, let's face it...I have absolutely no business being on a liter bike (especially an S1000RR), but that's one amazing machine. It has the sophisticated electronics package I wish the Daytona had (anti-wheelie, traction control, stoppie control, power modes, rain mode), more power, and far more street friendly options (handle bar warmers, cruise control, rain mode, quickshift for both up/down) as well.

My fastest lap in the ZO6 yesterday at Raceway Park of the Midlands, and also my first time with it on the track.

Thanks! Still have a lot to work on. I was never happy with my entry into T1 all day. I had that sucker nailed with the BRZ, but I'm having a really tough time with rear wheel lockup on downshifting and corner entry with the ZO6. Really need to learn rev-matching. And, I agree with T5 too. It never felt right, I'll try adjusting the turn-in point next time.

You should see if you can get a mount to move the camera behind you so you can also study your hand movements. The slide looked catch-able but it's hard to tell without seeing the driver as well.

Here's some info that I send NASA students:

Quote:
Telemetry systems can be costly, and aren’t all that useful unless you know someone whom you can share data with. However, GoPro’s are relatively inexpensive and can be great for learning where you can improve. A few tips for using a Go Pro:

A. Mount it inside the car where you can see your steering inputs. This will allow you do see how your hands are working, and see if you have the “death grip” on the wheel when driving. It also allows you to see how quickly you are responding to your car and where your turn-in points are.

B. Make sure whereever you mount it, you can still hear the engine well (sometimes getting the exhaust note is even better, but a little hard without a remote microphone). This will let you know when you are not full throttle, letting off the throttle too early, or not getting on the throttle soon enough. You can also use the sound to compare videos of the same track with others found on YouTube (i.e. listen to know when they are using their throttle). I use a Fuzzy Micover Windscreen for the GoPro which works better than using the water tight cover for decent sound, although it’s not pretty.

C. Study your own videos, often! I often watch my own track videos hundreds of times I’m watching my steering inputs, listening to my throttle, and checking my braking and turn-in points. Just before I go back to the same track, I’ll study the older videos to know what areas I’m going to improve before hitting the track.

The right driver could probably have saved it, I didn't even try this time. I wasn't sure how close my friend was (black 318 with the wing) and didn't want to get too far out of shape in likely would be my poor attempt at a save. So I let it come around and then went two feet in to keep it sliding forward and out of the grass.
