So seems like most gays on here are enjoying this load of crap. I will see if I can find a deal on this. Is the PS4 version smooth as well because this seems like a couch game rather than PC chair game.

PS4 is 30fps while PC can go as high as 240fps. It's a really solid port too.

Be warned though the game is not for everyone. Tbh I'd be shocked if you liked it. It can be really slow and a bit tedious in the beginning, and requires some patience to learn the game processes. Once you do though the game is great and sucks you in like crack.

What are you trying to imply? You are still ignorant whereas I have watched almost 3 hours of gameplay and read 8 reviews of death stranding and am still willing to consider it after positive feedback here.

Not for everyone but I enjoy it. It feels fresh, unlike anything I've played before. When I've had enough shoot bang online MP, this is my go to game to kick back on the couch. It's very relaxing. As Meteor said though, it can be very slow at times.

Definitely a gamepad/couch game imo, but don't get it on PS4. PC version is much better (4k, DLSS, 60+fps).

Be real, the one reason why anyone say that this is a crap game is because it's not a generic flashy action game that peasants usually enjoy.

That is just how I post. Doesn’t mean crap as in crap but crap as in Kojima took a big fat dump and everyone enjoyed it.

Ok, one thing I don't understand is when you are equipping gear, I can't seem to figure out how to swap from one item to another (still early on, only chapter 2). I can only seem to make it out by filling sam up completely with whatever the gear of the day is...which makes no sense. Sometimes I don't WANT to carry a full gear set, but it doesn't seem to want to let me continue unless I fill him up. If I hit escape, it just takes it off of him and brings me back one screen...which isn't what I want.

There has to be a way to customize what you want, maybe I'm just derp.

Are you talking about when you accept an order and it then takes you through the equipment manufacturing and loading process?

You don't have to manufacture everything (or anything) on the that first screen, everything is defaulted to 0 until you click on it when it defaults to 1.

You are then forced to load everything you made/all cargo on the next screen but once you click confirm there it takes you to the screen where you can move and remove whatever you don't want. Left click on the specific item and it'll bring up a menu that should offer the options of loading it elsewhere on Sam/offloading it or storing it in a private locker.

If you move a piece of equipment to somewhere that already has something attached, e.g. a leg it will remove it. I can't remember if it offloads it or swaps it to the place the other item came from.

The micro-management system in this game can be a little confusing, but I think that once you get it it becomes addicting, maybe even one of the reasons I personally can't stop playing.

With an Xbox controller in mind, the key is to get confident with the A button's double function: select sub-menus in the page with a single key-press, or exit the page by confirming any changes you've made by holding down the key.

As an example, in the delivery mission item fabrication screen, if you hit A you open each item's quantity selection sub-menu (done via d-pad), and successive A key-presses confirme the quantity and then the fabrication itself.
When the game lands you in this menu screen, if you don't enter any of the item's sub-menus, keeping A pressed is confirming that you are not building anything for that delivery.
In other words, hit A and you select single items, keep A pressed and you confirm any change made (or not made}.

To me what was most confusing is that the tip that menus show on the lower left telling you to keep A pressed for confirmation, is not as evident as I think it should be.

And now thanks to my post you're probably more confused than ever!

It's a lot easier on M&KB, there's a big fat confirm button at the bottom of the screen you click.

I would say the micromanaging in this game is pretty intuitive, but only once you've come to understand its design. I've got over 60 hours into this game now and I'd say by the time I made it to the southern portion of the central region every aspect of the gameplay had become second nature muscle memory to me. Now every time the game throws a new item to craft or gameplay feature to use I instantly know what to do. It really is just a matter of understanding the menu systems. Admittedly there is a lot of info to digest, and a lot of clicking to go through, but I think that's just a byproduct of the deep micromanaging of the game. I love how most game designers would have dumbed all that down but Kojima wanted you to see all the processes for what they were. In the end once you get it all you appreciate the depth of the design.

For me I am still chugging along at a deliberate pace and loving the game. I have completed rebuilding the roads from Lake Knot down to South Knot and across to Mountain Knot, except for one section I have yet to get on the Chiral network that's overlapping a few auto-pavers. I refuse to work on dedicating the Metals and Ceramics to them until I do since other porters help contribute once you get it on the network. In the meantime I'm having fun strategizing and building a nice network of ziplines to get to the tough to reach Prepper stations. Ziplines are so satisfying once you string a bunch together to get to a location within a fraction of the time it used to take on foot or vehicle. So cool. Only bad thing about this game is I find it impossible to play anything else.

Whoops, should have been more clear. Meant to say it became muscle memory when I got to a certain portion of the game, which was probably around 25-30 hours in.

Same here, 30 hours to get the hang and skim through the menus while enjoying the complexity. This is one of the most 'mature' games I've played, if the term makes any sense.
Can't launch anything else atm.

Mature is a good way to put it. I think that impression is because there isn’t one aspect of it that is dumbed down to appeal to the masses. In fact the opposite. Game mechanics, pacing, and story telling is designed to break norms. It’s probably also why there are so many haters. It’s a shock to the system of gamers that are used to games doing so many things the same. I mean what developer would build a game that requires 20-30 hours of playing before the player is fully engaged? Kojima seems to have decided only a certain type of gamer deserves to enjoy this game.

Only other game in recent memory I can think of that took that much time to "get into" was the first Souls game I played. I'll never forget the first 20 hours running through Undead Burg learning Dark Souls 1's advanced combat mechanics. Was such a memorable experience and the promise of Death Stranding being similar in that way was the allure of this game for me. It has not disappointed.

For me games are best when they are a new discovery of how they work, as that is half the fun IMO. Whenever I start playing a cookie cutter game from a well established genre and I know exactly what to do from the outset it gets old very fast, and is never a memorable experience. I've been gaming a very long time and nowadays when I sit down to play I want to be shown something totally new.

All that praise for Death Stranding aside, I did run into one thing that ticked me off the other day. Apparently in this game if you unknowingly travel to the next story cutscene with a truckload of cargo, and a boss fight ensues right in the same spot you parked, get ready to pick up by hand and have to reload all your cargo from the ground. I don't know why the game does this, but a boss fight will dump all the cargo from your vehicle out leaving you to pick it all up and load it back. I didn't know whether to laugh or cry. Ughh!

DEATH STRANDING UPDATE PATCH (v1.02) IS NOW LIVE

- Key assignments for Use/Dismount Vehicle can now be set separately to “Perform Action” and “In Vehicle”. You can now set different keys for getting on and off a vehicle.
- When restarting the game after changing key assignments, some key assignments were reverted. This issue has now been fixed.
- Other stability improvements and general bug fixes are included.
- Fixed an issue where frame rate dropped when using Steam Input.

5.1 GB seems kind of big for so little fixes.

Either I'm not sure what you're referring to or I didn't make it that far yet.

What chapter are you in?

Have you played giants citizen kabuto? If so, you'll know exactly what I'm talking about once you see it

I'm on Episode 7.

I played Giants Citizen Kabuto very briefly years ago. Don't remember much about it to recognize anything in Death Stranding.
