Will this mean anything for 8500 driver development?

Wow- 128meg DDR memory. I thought ATI would be closed the rest of the week. Maybe we will see new drivers afer all.

The FIRE GL 8800 affords users a choice of software drivers for the most popular workstation operating system environments – Windows 2000®/Windows NT® and Linux with fully hardware-accelerated OpenGL® capabilities.

I hope this means that we will finaly get drivers for Radeon 8500 in Linux.

It won't mean anything for 8500 drivers because they use different drivers. That's why the 8800 will cost so much.

I'd like to see someone "hack" these drivers to work with the 8500. Anyone up for the task?
