Default Freezing in windows on 3850 & 7.12s

50% of the time when I boot up to windows, I'll get like 5 second long freezes every 5 seconds. A reboot usually does away with them and it works fine. Is this a bug in the 7.12's or is my card defective?

I hope it's not cause my card is factory overclocked at 1900mhz I cut off the serial # for the rebate so I hope newegg will accept a return if that is the case.

Installed vista 32-bit (was 64 before) and it works 100% perfect now. Maybe in a couple months I'll switch back. Vista was acting weird after I installed SP1 RC1 anyway.

Tried the 8.1's on vista 64. 1/3 of the time it boots fine, 1/3 it does the freezing thing, and the rest the drivers don't even load No one else has similar problems?

3870 in x64, crashing drivers quite frequently with 7.12 and 8.1 betas. I should've known not to stick with ATI after having the direct3d AGP issues on my old pc for five driver releases now.

I thought 32-bit was stable but I still get freezing with 7.12's and 8.1's 50% I boot up. I think I'm going to RMA and sell it (I would hate for the buyer to have the same problems though). For the time being the card is unusable so I'll probably just order an 8800 gt. For shame ATI

I've tried the card on 3 different machines, and about half a dozen fresh installs with the same results. The card works fine on XP for some reason. Maybe because I'm using omega's drivers which actually work.

Ah well crappy Vista slap XP back in. Vista handles memory slightly different so you may still have a problem.

Although Gecube's phone number is nowhere to be seen on theirwebsite (I don't even think they have a real US branch), I google'd the address of the rebate's address and got a phone number I called them and got them to send me back my rebate & serial number from the box!!! (newegg doesn't allow you to RMA if you take it off and don't send it in with the item). I was so happy I was literally jumping for joy 8800 GT here I come.
