Keep in mind though, out of all the Supers, the 2080 Super has the least amount of change compared to the bigger differences between the 2070/2060 Supers and their counterparts. So using their performance increases as reference isn't really applicable.

Nvidia is touting it will be faster than a Titan XP though:

ATI Technologies

It’s obvious Nvidia has a large amount of Turing chips unsold and this is the main reason for the Super cards. The lacklustre sales of the original Turing cards and their exorbitant prices meant NV had to do something especially as their share price has pretty much nose dived since the Turing launch.

Unfortunately even the tweaks they’ve applied to the Super cards have been offset by their insistence on charging premium prices for mediocre performance gains and RTX technology which the vast majority of people are not remotely interested in.

AMD seem to be following suit with Navi which is $100 to $150 overpriced for what it brings to the market. Navi at $449 will not beat a 2070 super and doesn’t even have any new tech to entice people to buy it. Unfortunately both camps don’t seem to realise that the majority of people have a tipping point above which they will not buy the product. I think they both might be about to find that out

45% increase during the 8 first weeks. Not that hard considering the shortage of pascal cards at launch.

True, but the Supers seem to boost a lot higher than the non-supers. I know the memory is only 10-11% faster and same with flops, but hopefully they can OC higher. Depending on the game, like Division 2, the 2080 is faster than a Titan Xp, but usually only by a frame.

Actually the 2070 does not have NV link, but the 2070Super does (as it is a 2080 die).

Yeah I don't think they sold as many RTX cards as GTX cards in the same time frame honestly. Price did scare away a lot of people IMHO.

Nvidia hit their all time share price high after the Turing launch. The major reasons for the share drop were losing crypto revenue and too much Pascal inventories

I have my eye on the 2080S FE, looks to be ~10% faster than a 2080 FE. Should boost to ~1900Mhz or so based on what the 2060/2070 Supers actually boost to.

Is the 2080 S coming out the same price point as the 2080?

Same price as when it was first released. I would suspect they will have to knock the MSRP of the regular 2080 down.

Hmmm...well I got $2000 back from my Tax return this year... although I didn't need that to purchase a new GPU, the issue is that we're over half way through the Turing cycle so in 6 months time we will be here talking about the 3080..

I better hold off.

this

at this point buying one now is almost a year of it's live cycle wasted

now because 3080's are most likely Q1 before AMD gets anything out I expect same pricing or a bit higher and blamed on tariffs

I'm bored and might grab a 2080S to play with until 3000 series hits. Shouldn't cost much after selling 1080ti with water block. That and I wouldn't regret it as much as buying a 2080TI now.

This is what I'm thinking, Sell my 1080Ti and pay $300 to $350 for the super. I bet we are still a year out from the 3080.

At this point Nvidia has no need to release a "next gen" part. Just do what they are doing releasing updated versions of the original with slightly higher clocks and drop the price.

Don’t need it. Still waiting for a game that doesn’t run well at 1440P.
