Default best antivirus software?

ok, i am back after installing xp. my pc had a big ass virus so big that norton antivirus 2004 Pro didnt open so i reformated the hell out of the hd. that was my moms pc and mine too. both ****ed up at the same time. i trust norton even after that pain in the ass weekend of xp reinstall nightmare i had.

well lets keep it simple. what is the best antivirus to date?



what about spyware/adware?

Iam using Ad-Aware SE Professional right now.

I use avg free cause it's free, it's fast and doesn't use a lot of memory

NAV 2003 here. Yeah...it takes 15 minutes or so to scan,
(I always scan for viruses when I'm doing something else, like
making coffee...going to the store for smokes or something.)

People gripe and say that it hogs too much memory.

I dunno about that. I don't scan for viruses, chat on an IM, and try
to play 5 games at once...so I've never had a problem with it being
"bloatware".

Memory is cheap anyway. Get a GB or two.

download spywareblaster - http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/sbdownload.html
scan your computer with adaware
install spywareblaster, update and enable all protection
uninstall adaware

avg pro ****ing installed norton 2005 last night resource hog to the Fing max and you cant choose what pieces you have of it running anymore. got rid of it and installed AVG i mean norton was using 75mb of physical ram that is WRONG unless you are doing a complete system scan IMO
