For me all home appliances are disposable now (including TV sets). I am ok spending 500-1000 for a 2-3 year usage time. However, in actuality most of my appliances are lasting 5 years or more.

Some of the features are really cool - tapping on the door and it's like glass, so you can see the items in the fridge without opening it..

but i think the biggest features already happened. ice cube maker, water dispenser with filter .. i don't really need much more from my fridge. I really don't understand the smart features that these fridges have or why people are so desperate to throw big dollars away on them

Would like to know longevity of such features.
I had a Samsung with auto lock feature that stopped working after 2 months.
Also, I already have a free water dispenser from the water delivery company and multiple ice cube makers in the normal 800$ fridge. Also these doors usually mean you can’t put big items in the fridge like xl pizza, big bowls etc. One of the reasons why I never went with double doors.

If only the ice makers would actually work. Mine decides when it feels like working about a month after we bought it. Of course it starts working again before I even bother submitting a warranty request. They even called the one time I did submit one to see if it was working that day. Of course it was.

Really? I've never had an issue with a couple different fridges. I do try to dump all of the ice out of the container every 6 months or so.. I notice the cubes will smell kind of weird and they get frozen to each other. I'd imagine that makes the dispenser struggle after a while.

I dont think people are buying them for the smart features. Other than the temp control(in multiple spots for veges, lunch meat) I dont use any smart features.



This one would just fit perfect in the kitchen and the ice chips would be amazing. I dont drink anything without ice so thats a major thing for me. My current fridge has a ice maker and it crushes it, but it aint no ice chips




Not to mention the space and organization that it offers over a normal fridge. Theres nothing wrong with my current fridge but we can always upgrade our lives

Samsung has a great way of reselling the same thing as last year and reducing quality of products used and calling it a new model. It is worse than what car makers pull.

House I bought has a Samsung washer/dryer.. front loader washer too. I had old Kenmore units in my last place.

I have this fridge and actually get a lot out of having the features...

Couple of things I use it for...
Check the weather.
Set timers for cooking.
Play music.
When the kids come over they draw on the screen and save them to memory.
The kids also play a lot of card games and they will use the screen to track their scores as they play.
It has Alexa now and I ask it all kinds of questions as well.
We buy some things in bulk from Sam's and don't want the large box taking a lot of room up in the freezer so we trash the box and add a note to the fridge on cooking times for those items.
It alerts my phone when someone leaves the door open(actually it alerts my phone, TV, watch, and fridge when the door is left open haha) which I seem to be doing more often these days...

And that's just off the top of my head...

When I bought it I was wondering if I would actually use it...turns out I use it more than I thought I would.

I won't buy GE refrigerators. After 3 months, my "garage ready" model (which supposedly is more robust) stopped cooling and then another 3 months and 6 tech visits later, it still wasn't working. This is definitely a new problem. The older stuff probably will run forever. The refrigerant change to more eco-friendly refrigerants prevents them from being able to solder (I guess the new refrigerant will eat at it), so they're using epoxy instead and whatever blobs it in there does a **** job.
