Default Most value for your buck cards of all time.

List the cards that have served you the best, for longest. For me they would be:

-9800 pro
-8800 gtx
-470 gtx
-quadro 4000

Sorry if there is a similar thread.

The 8800 GTX, that mother****er can still play many multi platform titles if you keep the resolution reasonable.

And the runner up is my x800pro/xt, mostly because ati was so aggressive with the support for its features at the time.

I would say:

Radeon X850XTPE based on software - the drivers added adaptive transparency without the need to buy new hardware!

Radeon X1900XTX CrossFire -- very feature rich, including a more angle invariant filtering, HDR+AA, Super-AA hybrid mixed modes of x10 and x14 AA, which included a virtual free RGSSAA component, amazing adaptive transparency flexibility!

GeForce 8800 GT -- great performance value, coupled with amazing feature and driver support --from features, including a very welcomed higher quality, more angle invariant filtering, hybrid mixed modes and eventually PhysX and 3d Vision support.

GTX 470 -with a twin frozr cooler --- very quiet and cool, great OC scaling and improved flexibility with SGSSAA and TRSSAA, DirectX 10+ SGSSAA as well.

I would say the 8800GT based on price, sheer abilities and longevity -- based on I used the sku for rendering and as a PhysX discrete card for a few generations.

either 9800se unlock to pro and overclocked to xt, or x800pro unlock to xt and overclocked to xt-pe.

6950 unlock was pretty good too.

Also for me, the 580 GTX and the 690 GTX. They both were brilliant cards (I would probably be using the 580 today if I hadn't had such an itch to check out the 690) and could handle top tier games for well after their release

I'd have to say my dual 8800GTXs was probably it for me. Had those forever and they maintained playable framerates till I replaced them.

Second would be these 5870s for the same reason.

Had my Radeon 4850 X2 for almost four years, before replacing it with a 7950 earlier this year.

8800gtx and geforce4 ti4200-64mb. The latter could have lasted a bit longer if it was a 128mb model.

on a similar note, cards that lasted the least:
Voodoo2-12mb: a single crd would not go above 800x600. Lasted 6 months
7970ghz: 2 months, xfire performance put me off really bad. Replaced with a couple of 770s.

6800LE unlock to 16 pipes and overclocked to Ultra speeds. I got lucky, twice. And also it doesn't exhibit black screen issue like other 6800LE on the net.

pair of 460's...used them for two years and they now inhabit younger siblings' computers.

come to think of it, my pair of 260's lasted even longer and are still in use.

Why are people stating the 9700 Pro? I replaced that card after a year with 9800 Pro and got a performance boost since 9800 Pro was running at 9800XT spec that the 9700 Pro wasn't delivering

I came up with this list based on percentage of the performance of the top (single GPU) SKU of the same generation and comparable price. Here are the cards sorted by release date:

Geforce 4 ti4200 ($199)

Radeon 9500 Pro ($199)

Geforce 6600 GT ($199)

Radeon X800 GTO/GTO2 ($189 and under)

Geforce 8800 GT ($249)

Radeon 4850 ($199)

Radeon 6850 ($179)

Geforce GTX 560 ti ($249)

Honorable mentions not included due to price threshold being too high:
Radeon X800 XL ($299)
Geforce GTX 660 ti ($299)
Geforce GTX 760 ($299)

I'm sure there are others, these are just the ones that came to mind.

X800 PRO lasted me all the way until 4850.

Scratch that. Forgot I bought a 7800 GTX off someone used. That took me to the 4850.

And technically that only lasted me because I had an Asus G71 with a GTX 260M for about a year. Then bumped to the 4850, which quickly moved to a 4870, which quickly moved to a 4870, then 5850, then so and so forth. Every gen.
