Nah you will have to wait for the next release in the Turing lineup. A GPU that’ll sit between the Ti and Titan for that.

May just be a Ti with more RAM

I think it'll be fine for another year or so until the next cards release. It doesn't affect my decision on a purchase, I was just genuinely surprised is all.

All good. My feeling is the typical Nvidia sales pitch will also face a shake up with Turing.

But let's say the stars did align, and it was released tomorrow same day as Turing.

It's still a 7nm Vega. A 1080Ti is average 50% faster and a Titan V absolutely destroys Vega. These are two top end Nvidia cards about to be obsolete tomorrow with an even more powerful architecture. No amount of "hoping" or pulling stratospheric percentages out your behind will make up for that deficiency.

Switching back to reality, AMD's first gen 7nm chips will just give Vega a better power/heat profile with a slight performance bump. And you're going to wait until 2019 for the gaming version of this chip, for a card that MAYBE might equal a 1080Ti (at best).

Better put all your eggs into Navi because that is the next true high end card coming from AMD, not 7nm Vega. The whole purpose of 7nm Vega is to elliminate the heat and power issues that plagues it.

Unless of course, you enjoy being disappointed as you were with RX480 and Vega.

The current Vega is 431mm^ at 14nm, so a 7Nm of the exact same thing with no extra hardware at all in it is absolutely tiny by comparison, so it's a given that there will be a lot more hardware in it, even if it's still called Vega and heaven forbid that AMD don't aim it to be larger than the current Vega is, then the transistor budget really goes up in a big way and what Lisa Sue was holding in her hand looked like a pretty big chip, but that's just me eye balling it and not having the means to mesure it with any accuracy at all.

Need I remind you that if the RTX 2080TI is using the exact same chip as the Quadro 8000 version, then it is a 754mm^ giant at 18.6 billion transistors using the 12nm process and only down 3 billion for Volta which has 21.4 billion for an 815mm^ die, so it's not surprising that the cards are using a pair of 8 pin power connectors + the 75 watts of the PCI slot, it's got 375 watts feeding the thing if needed......Not too surprising to see the coolers on all the brands shown so far to have 3 fans to cool it.....This is the brute force approach in a big way.

A 7nm Vega can have that same transistor budget and more, while being much smaller and cheaper to make and use less power and be easier to cool down too...… I wouldn't be making the performance projections you're making when it'll be the first to use the 7nm process which is a huge advantage in all the mentioned aspects, not Nvidia....

They can't do a 16GB version with a 384 bit bus.....It has to be either a 256 bit bus on the regular RTX 2080 and high capacity memory since there's only 8 modules on the card, or a 512 bit bus and 16 memory chips.

384 bit allows for 12 GB, 24 GB, 36 GB or even 48 GB which the latter seems to be the case with the Quadro 8000 cards, but they are 10 000$ a pop.

It really looks like we will be getting a Ti too (french and polish stores accidently put some cards searchable). IMO this makes sense since the 2080 didnt look like it was a real upgrade to 1080ti - but the "full" Turing chip of 2080Ti might be a proper one!

Only a few hours left, exciting!

They based that on currency conversion, not local retail prices elsewhere.

That's also some dough to play games at 4k quite faster than a 1080Ti. If that's a gimmick, you're in the wrong forum. Though there is a console peasant forum here.

More then likely its a paper launch with a few on hand for people to try out at Gamescon.

Supposedly Battlefield V has Raytracing in it:

https://www.dsogaming.com/news/battl...tx-technology/

So we could be getting games that support it within a few months. Ok, one game.

As for comment about going SLI because of NVLINK. NVLINK allows for 80GB's of bidirectional data transfer and the ability to pool GPU memory. The SLI HB allows for 1GB-3GB, PCIE allows for 8GB's, so the NVLINK tech is 10x that. Basically eliminating microstutter from Multi-GPU due to bandwidth constraints and driver support.

PNY specs leaked here:

https://www.tomshardware.com/news/ge...ecs,37635.html

They pulled the page but tom's managed to save a copy.....Clock speeds are still unknown except for the boost speeds, and the TI version is power hungry at 285 watts TDP at stock speeds so once overclocked it's bound to go higher and we now see a reason why they're all packing triple fans....It isn't just for looks.

I could honestly care less about ray tracing, I just want the fastest card for 4k in current games and games about to be released at their highest settings (minus any high amounts of AA).

Also the keynote starts at 12pm Eastern US time. Don't think we'll see reviews until then.

I still don't buy the fact that it could be $1200. That's absurd. A 40% increase in price over a 1080Ti is a bit much.

How long does it usually take before the Strix versions are out?

Ti's will likely be $899 or $999 in the US, if the 2080's are $699.

Can also probably expect the current 1080Ti and 1080's to drop by $100 until those inventory runs out. Which is why the GTX 2060/2070's won't be out until around October since they will be their replacements.

Of course, everything would have been cheaper if there was a competitor to put pressure on Nvidia. Instead the only competition Nvidia gets are those fantasy future 7nm AMD performance figures where everything is 75% faster than what Nvidia offers

Can't wait for the livestream tomorrow.

I'm really looking forward to the 2080ti. Going to be a nice upgrade from my GTX970.

Nvidia’s Gamescom 2018 press conference live, and where you’ll be able to tune in at 18:00 CEST (12:00 EDT/9:00 PST/17:00 BST/02:00 Tuesday August 21 AEST) on Monday, August 20.

Nvidia will host a livestream of its GeForce Gaming Event on Twitch.
