Default Microsoft puts OneDrive on lockdown

http://gizmodo.com/microsoft-scraps-...-it-1740232233

Microsoft has announced that it’s scrapping its unlimited OneDrive cloud storage plan which it launched last year, as well as introducing a lower cap on its free offering, too.

Complaining that subscribers were using too much of the unlimited storage...

Not sure what MS thought was going to happen when the offer unlimited storage.

Thread title made me think there was a security issue, like previous iCloud issues....

I didn't even know unlimited storage was an option, or people used online storage to the extend they need it unlimited

It wasn't a lot of storage used per se. It was abuse and sharing that caused it. Massive music libraries, full movies, etc. People turned it into a MegaUpload.

It would make a great Onion article:

"MS cancels unlimited storage when people use it for unlimited storage."

The pricing tiers they ended up with were more messed up than the retraction on unlimited.

You forgot to mention the part where some people were using the unlimited storage space to store illegal items.....

just so you know, not to confuse people into thinking MS was just being mean and evil by taking everyone's storage away.

I got pretty pissed by that to be honest; so I bought a yearly Dropbox subscription, moved all the data I had on it, and now I have everything under one umbrella.

They did give Lumia and tablet owners a massive middle finger with the camera roll removal though. "Thanks for buying our phone, by the way we removed the storage that we used to have for owners that bought our phones."

Now GDrive's free space is actually MORE for no cost than OneDrive for people that bought MS hardware. ****ing hilarious and sad at the same time.

cheers!

I've no idea what bing bonus is but I've got it free for another 2 years? 100gb extra, can't complain, just a shame I rarely use online storage!
