but most of the times you know about SF only when you actually install it.
Since there's no chance in hell I can download a 50+ MB demo, I'll leave this dilemma to the broadband community

Probably it's because of the installer that requires an amount of free space in the C: drive before transfering the data to E:

This was a big problem for me. The damn installer programs suck up tons of C: space when unzipping, then extracting then copying over to the drive you want.

I ended up having to wipe my HD clean and repartition it much larger.

PartionMagic or some program may work for you but I had too much important data on the drive to risk the procedure.

yeah see if you can run a disk cleanup on C or search C by size, and delete stuff you dont need.

solution to is is make C double or triple windows size, cuz for a demo this was actually small.

I quite liked it, though I was disappointed by the graphics and performance as well. However, if you read the readme they say they're currently working on the game and the demo isn't representative of final performance.

As far as the shadows - they're the same shadow mapping based technique used in Fable, NFS:Most Wanted, and a few other games. This means they will appear correct on nVidia cards because they have special filtering for the technique, but blocky on ATI cards since they lack the filtering.

Performance is pretty pathetic, even on the lowest settings it still gets slow downs when nothing is going on. The sound is god awful since there isn't really any. The unit fight sounds and movement sounds are pretty bad or don't even exist. The voice acting is also quite ordinary although it would work better with some backing music of some sort. Gameplay wise it seemed semi interesting after I persisted but again the combat was uninteresting due to the lack of sound to give it umph. It's hard to see what is going on when units come together since there are lots of effects. Hard to tell how close the enemies are to death as sometimes they will get knocked over rather than die.
