Default What happened to Phase Change cooling?

I remember years ago it was supposed to be the end-all, be-all, ultimate cooling solution where you could overvolt and overclock the hell out of anything, heat issues be damned.

It was ridiculously expensive, so I never paid much attention to it. But I guess I sort of thought the price would come down as it does with all other electronic things. Apparently it didn't, and has now been pretty much abandoned/forgotten.

Wasn't it big with lga775 chips since they would cold bug with ln2? Both dry ice and phase change seemed to be pretty uncommon after core 2 from what I remember.

I think condensation is the big pain. You have to go through so much **** to try and prevent it and you to keep rechecking regularly.

Standard water cooling is not as good but its just bolt on and go...

Yes ^

Condensation is the issue. If your gear is below ambient temp, condensation will form. Unless you're just running benches, it's not ideal.
