Default Hyperthreading make much of a difference on Intel plaforms?

Just ordered a new Intel rig, and am looking forward to "Hyperthreading." How would an Intel P4 rig running about 3Ghz compare w/ an XP running about 2.2 Ghz when it comes to folding?

Well, Curio runs some really mean Athlon machines, perhaps he can shed some light on XP performance.

I've got a P4 2.4C running two instances via HyperThreading. So do some of the other folks around here. HT really helps since if you run one instance at 100% cpu utilization via client.cfg, task manager would show the system running at 50%. Running two instances does not double the output, but gives you something like 1.5 times the throughput of non-HT CPU.

Between the two of them, probably P4 HT @3GHz will produce more than a single XP @2.2GHz - that's my guess.
