HDMI to Audio Out (Monitor) Feedback

I have a Soundblaster Z and have been trying to enjoy my Mini-consoles through my monitor while using my PC's speakers, but I'm getting a lot of weird feedback and I'm not sure what to do for the best results.

Right now I have the following setup:

Mini-Console -> Monitor with HDMI
Monitor -> Sound Card with 3.5mm Cable

I have Line-In setup with "Listen to this device" and when I switch my monitor to the HDMI input with the Mini console I hear it, however it isn't great and when there is a lot of feedback when the console isn't making a sound. In addition, when I switch back to DisplayPort and to my PC, it gives me a huge amount of feedback!

I'm thinking there must be some better way to do this or I'm doing something very wrong. If you have any ideas, let me know...

Okay, so I ended up solving my own problem. I would delete this but maybe in some distant future it may help someone else:

I went searching through my box of cables and stuff that I keep (since I never throw those things out, although I probably have little use for a bunch of DVI and Composite cables anymore) and pulled out the following:

An RCA to S/PDIF adapter, a 3.5mm RCA to 3.5mm splitter and a Toslink cable. I set this up to be 3.5mm RCA splitter to RCA in and Toslink out to Digital-In in the Soundblaster Z. Now there is perfectly crisp digital audio coming from the mini and no feedback.
