Rocksteady is hoping to raise the bar even higher on what will be its final Arkham game. Set after the events of Arkham City, Batman: Arkham Knight may just end the Dark Knight's journey.
As you've probably guessed from the cover imagery, the Batmobile is finally a core element of the gameplay. An entirely new area of Gotham City, far larger than Arkham City, has much wider streets to accommodate the new driving gameplay that is designed to integrate smoothly with Batman's gliding and grappling traversal. Batman chases down super villains Scarecrow, Penguin, Two-Face, Harley Quinn, and more.
Arkham Knight will release later this year on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

There are articles saying they widened the streets already. So that's enough to say its going to bigger and different. Don't really care how the story ends up its going to be good rocksteady have a good enough track record to get the benefit of the doubt IMO. On top of that they are targeting next gen systems so its going to hopefully look a lot better and take advantage of the extra power those systems bring.

Good news they are targeting next-gen and expanding the gameplay. Was starting to think they were turning these Batman games into the next Assassin's Creed with annual releases and not much change.

So they´ve been showing this to journalists behind closed doors.
Talked about it on the lastest bombcast on giantbomb, said it was probably the best looking game they´ve ever seen.
It´s one of the first ones made without having taking the previous gen consoles into concideration since its only for PC and current gen.

So it´ll be interesting to see how a game like that looks, sounds promising.

They were also very sceptical to the idea of having the batmobile when it´s been so easy to navigate the city in the previous games, but were kinda sold on it right away in the demo they saw.
Apparently it wasn´t running very smooth though, but I guess it´s pre-alpha or something still.

It sounds like the city is once again evacuated aswell.

You can always budget around that, it´d cost some detail on the enviroment probably.

But from a gameplay perspective, what would it add?
what would be the function of people running around?
Can you, as batman, hit them? will DC allow that?
Is the gameplay worth the time to build the systems, AI and content?
I mean if it´s just a bunch of people walking the streets at night, occationally being bullied by "henchmen" and you jump down and start kicking asses and people run away shouting, it´s probably not.

Usually it all boils down to the argument of will it make the game substantially better, is it worth the effort, and what do you cut in order to get it done, time wise.

Judging by the screenshots (or atleast "images") they´ve release the characters look less like charicatures and more like real people.
I kinda liked the comic style of things in the previous games though, but I suppose with the higher fidelity they felt a more realistic style was more approriate.

I mean if it´s just a bunch of people walking the streets at night, occationally being bullied by "henchmen" and you jump down and start kicking asses and people run away shouting, it´s probably not.

Usually it all boils down to the argument of will it make the game substantially better, is it worth the effort, and what do you cut in order to get it done, time wise.

Yeah.
I mean if you read the post, it´s not just "what would it add", it´s what would it add in the context of the amount of work it would require, and what you need to cut from the current plan to make it work, technically, gameplay wise, and budget / time wise.

If you want GTA Batman that becomes a very different game to make.
You got a budget and a time table, so where you put your focus is very important.

Im not saying a GTA batman wouldnt be cool, but strapping random pedestrians to the current "Arkhamn" formula isnt the answer to that.
And throwing that formula out the window and start from scratch with a batmobile and a combat system for the third and final game in the series is a bit of a risk, and publishers are generally not very keen on those.

also stop being okay with what publishers are scared of (seriously, as a player, who gives a **** if they won't allow it? it's like so called movie fans who talk about budgets and how well the film sells for some reason, as a fan its pointless bullshit and takes away from the experience and the actual movie) this is why we end up with so much ****.
