Default Big TV's vs. Small TV's

Anybody here prefer smaller TV's for competitive reasons? I find looking at even a 32 inch screen, I have a lot screen to cover and look at. Also with bigger TV's, the image is being stretched more and the pixels are larger. I generally find that the smaller HDTV's have a sharper image.
I recently went from my 21" LCD 1680x1050 computer monitor back to my 27" HDTV 720p and I find the sharpness of the computer monitor much better. Despite being 6" smaller, I still find the computer monitor big enough for how close I sit.

I know a lot here would like big for home theater reasons. Lay back on the couch, enjoy a blu-ray, or even casual game... but do you find them irritating for competitive gaming?

Well, I'll tell ya, my Counter Strike skill certainly suffer when I'm sitting on the couch in front of the flatscreen, but I don't really play compentatively, I play for fun.Win or lose, if the game was fun, I'm happy.

But yes - my skills are better when I'm at the PC, then at the TV.

I've been enjoying playing on my 24 inch desktop monitor (it shares between my computer and xbox... and sometimes PS2, that slut). I've been doing it mostly 'cause it's tough to get my own space, so I have a tiny office I've set up that my wife and 1 year old son largely stay out of.

1680x1050 > 720 (1280x720).

Bigger displays are not bad, I prefer them. I always do better on my 60 vs 40 (both 1080P).

Your strange. Thats an awful lot of screen to look at.
I'm looking for a TV that I can also use as a monitor without my desktop looking like a blurry stretched out pos.
So I found a Vizio 23" LED LCD 1080p. Should solve just about all my problems. I can connect the DTV box, the xbox and the computer all into it, and without sacrificing PQ. As well as game just as good as I did with my monitor.

Not sure how you are connecting to your displays, but pure digital @ 1920x1080 on a 1:1 ratio is nowhere near blurry on my display. (Pioneer PRO 151FD) I also use it as a monitor for my HTPC. Text while browsing is perfectly readable, etc.

Smaller displays allow you to see your environment all at once, but I have no issues with mine. Maybe you are too close to your displays? It's also much easier to spot movement for me at longer distances without the need to use weapon zoom. (FPS, etc).

EDIT: I have 20/10 vision

I tend to do alot better playing the ps3 on my 46" 1080p than i do playing anything on my smaller 19" comp monitor.

When I played games on my 22 inch 16:10 monitor, my xbox 360 games looked great. When I got my 42 inch 1080p tv, they didnt look so great anymore.

Even 1080p isn't blurry on a 52-60" screen. It's razor sharp.

I feel the same way. Your simply going to a much higher pixel pitch. The image is just not going to look as sharp.

ya try 1280x720 on a 27" screen and playing PC games on that. When you are so use to 1680x1050 on 21", and going to that... ya...

KURO can't do full color 3-D (i.e. for use w/ upcoming 3-D 360/PS3 games, Nvidia 3D Vision, or upcoming 3-D Blu-ray spec). Nor is it 73"

yea, i have sharp 47 inch lcd 120 , and a samsung 40 inch 120 hz 850series
as well as a sony xbr 4 40 inch

imo out of all 3 , the best looking lcd is still the sony xbr 4 out of all 3 brand.
yet the sony xbr 4 got the oldest tech.

i bought it like 3 years ago already, and got 850 series last year, aswell as the 47 inch sharp.

ui should had gotten myself the kuro pllasma instead.

back to topic when it comes to console with hdtv, u need to have a very good quality one. XBr4 with ps3 produce the best picture for ps3 to me.

the brava engine is worth having for hdtv. it just make it looks better.

there is a reason why everytime sony present there new ps3 games in e3 or gt games at e3 and they still use their 3 years old xbr4.
since their new hdtv are not as good as they used to be in xbr4 series

My last TV was a Sony KDS-60A3000 SXRD (LCOS tech) and to be honest overall my new Mitsu WD-73C9 DLP blows it out of the water on most fronts.

Worth noting that all the cinemas that upgraded to digital have gone DLP, too.

The only problem I have gaming on my 60 inch is being able to take in the whole picture at once. Sometimes it's hard detecting someone lurking in the shadows if my eyes aren't already focused on that part of the screen. Image is very sharp though -- no blurryness here. I tend to always place in the top 3 on MWF2 free for all. Got a 59 win streak.
