After years, I finally got wifey to watch Breaking Bad. She loves crime stuff, so I don't know what the problem was. I think she only resisted because I loved it so much.

She almost gave up after the first episode, but I prodded her to stick with it, knowing the hydroflouric acid bathtub scenes were in ep2. This was yesterday.

I think she just started s3e1 about a half hour ago.

We started Messiah last night. Engaging and thought provoking 3 eps in..I dump a lot of Netflix series after an episode or 2, but I'll finish this one.

Outlander. About 9 episodes in. Good story with enough soft core porn in some episodes to make Altered Carbon look like a kids' show.

It jumps the shark in ep. 5 or so and gets real tedious afterwards.

We finished ep6 last night. I can see it going that way, but I think it's kind of like the titular characters statement in that "we see what we want to see".

For me, the show is doing an excellent job portraying how easily our world can spin off into social chaos, and how easily people can be duped into becoming "sheeple" if just one person can convince them he/she is the one with 'the answers'.

The acting and settings are solid, and I want to see what his end game is here, and how they work out the stories for the people he seemingly abandoned as well as who is behind it all.

Finished season 1 of Outlander. Man, the final episode was gut-wrenching. I had to fast-forward through some spots. Seeing a man physically and emotionally tortured and broken isn't something I need in my life. Very good show, but...wow...

They never explain it but don't worry about it. just enjoy it for the ride.

Also season 2 is better.

Cool. I'm about halfway through s4.

I've been circling back and watching a couple old, long-since canceled shows.
One is Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, Aaron Sorkin's ill-fated follow up to West Wing, that had much fanfare but barely made it through one season.
The other is Pitch, another one-season-wonder about the first woman player in Major League Baseball.
I love both of these shows but apparently many didn't.

Wtf have they done to Arrowverse? This season post crisis on infinite earth which was crap, now I have to watch all the other shows to keep up. Well they can screw that idea. I literally slept whilst watching Supergirl nonsensical drama.

I also only watch Flash in the whole arrowverse.

Finished both seasons of Clanned and started Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic
Did not realize Magi was going to be so heavy, dealing with class warfare, slavery and more. Was looking for a fun show after Clanned but still enjoying it.

Started Dracula (Netflix) last night. Very slow so far as they build the plot lines, but well done. Seems to have the potential to be pretty creepy so far.

Just finished episode 8 of Watchmen... that was a fantastic episode.

Great implementation of the Maud'dib effect. Dr. Manhattan knows the future and is fatalistically unable to do anything BUT that, even though he had every opportunity. Trapped by his own omniscience. Ie. His belief that his death will play out a certain way causes him to make it play out that way.

Only question now is whether he wanted his death or just felt unable to change it. Barring any specific reveals in the final episode I'm going with the "lacks imagination" inevitability.

Avenue 5 on HBO. It's a space-based sitcom starring Hugh Laurie, Josh Gad, and Zach Woods. Rebecca Front, who plays disgruntled, no-nonsense passenger Karen Kelly, steals the show in ep1.

This was funny but I don't know if it was funny enough to justify the sh1t-ton they must be spending to produce it.

Just finished binging American Crime Story - The People vs. OJ Simpson (Netflix). What an amazingly well done docudrama! I was too young to pay attention to the trial back then and wasn't even sure what the verdict was (lol) until the final episode, so this was an eye opener for me and also kept me on the edge of my seat.

Started watching The Outsider on HBO, an adaptation of a pretty good Steven King novel. Through episode 2 now, and it's looking good.

Glad to see that Stephen King's books are finally getting the good directors, actors, and script writers they need. Looking forward to The Stand. I'll have to take a look at The Outsider. IIRC it's part of a loosely-connected series of books that started with Mr. Mercedes (which is also a TV series now).

Yeah I read those books too. The actress they picked for Holly Gibney is a bit of an adjustment. She does a good job with the mannerisms and whatnot, but a bit jarring to the head-space image of the character.

https://www.imdb.com/name/nm7248827/

But I agree, studios are finally treating Stephen King's books more like serious dramas with supernatural elements, rather than monster movies and that's a good thing.

It's a good time to have novels adapted with all of the venues looking for original work. Very much looking forward to Sandman, Wheel of Time, and Dark Tower (hopefully better than the movie.)

Now someone needs to get on the phone and get Amber made into a series.... there's a universe ripe for viewing.
