A few recent pickups.

I'm especially intrigued by Quad Desert Fury, as it's a voxel game on the gba:

Well if it was valuable at one time, its not anymore. Its a $15-$20 game at the moment (used).

While I think this was probably a lucky anomaly, definitely start keeping an eye out for them. They will be showing up in thrift stores rarely but more and more over the coming year. Especially the popular first part titles that were bought by casual gamers.

I was already seeing the common junk PS4 and Xbox One games pretty often now so was only a matter of time before seeing Switch. Only difference is more likely to see the better games with a Nintendo platform, like popular first party titles.

Installed the Ultra HDMI mod in one of my mnay N64's. What a pain in the ass. I'm glad I got one to work but it took 3 consoles to get one that actually worked, kept having problems with shorting because the soldering so so fine. Legit killed one because a trace lifted, while I could fix that trace with a bodge it soldered itself to the pin next to it and I can't get it separated, so I'm using that one for parts. Have one more kit to install, I'm hoping it's easier since I learned through the first one. Picture looks fantastic, really happy with the result.

Finally found a Vita at a good price. Seller gave it to me for $60, as it was missing it's power cable. I spent $6 for a cable from Amazon, and I'm ready to rock and roll!

Nice PSVITA pick up, that is a great deal. Its the original version with the OLED too, which is great. Two games I highly recommend are Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles (D/L from the PS Store), and the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection, both of which play amazingly on the VITA. Dracula X Chronicles is an absolute must own because you can unlock the original versions of Dracula X (Rondo of Blood) and Symphony of the Night which are hands down the best Castlevania games ever created.

Not sure if you are even into those types of games but they are my favorite game franchises and pretty much the reason I wanted to get a PSVITA.

Yes I have heard how tough that mod is to do. Glad you managed to pull it off. I think I will just stick to playing N64 on my CRT for now.

I used to have a headband magnifier that would have helped a lot, but unfortunately one of my puppies chewed it up... I may get another before I do the next one. I could see the pins, but aligning them was tough without magnification, even with my perfect vision...

edit: Or not, the one I had before doubled in price since I ordered it

I assume you're talking about this part of the installation. Yeah that looks nutty to solder.

The alignment really is the hardest part, and even when I thought I had it aligned perfectly I still had issues. The most common problem I had was the game not booting at all. The HDMI portion would work, I could even use the N64 controller to bring up the HDMI interface on my TV, just the game wouldn't work. Was frustrating.

I keep debating on whether to go in on an n64 hdmi solution, but they're so expensive! I think for now I'll prolly just pick up a retrotink2x. I'm super intrigued by the de-blurring feature on the hdmi mod though, so maybe someday I'll get around to that.

Also, I with the retrotink2x had a scanline option!

If you do, you should also build a DreamPi! https://segaretro.org/DreamPi

I've played Quake3 a couple times... I think they do it every Friday night.

Of course, console worked fine with the ribbon cable removed. N64 cartridge slots also come off easily, I swapped in a cleaner one on the console that wound up working out.

Had to give my first ever negative feedback on Ebay today. Bought a copy of Panzer Dragoon Orta that was described as very good "perfect condition disc" and it came all scratched up. Game does still load and I was able to play through the first level of the game but likely it will have problems later on in other levels. But even still if it doesn't, condition matters to me and if I buy something I expect to receive it as described.

I've had issues with purchases before but I always contact the seller first to try and work it out, and always got things resolved satisfactorily. But after 2 days since messaging this person will not respond, so that equals neg feedback and free return/refund process started.
