Yea i've been playing it for 2 days now (soft mod wiiu is super easy). Bassicly once you got into combat with a couple of enemies, or if there's any fire or grass set on fire the framerate just drops like a rock. Same if you're in a wooded area with any light. Also once you get to towns like kakariko village frame rate drops like a rock. So far this is the only negative of the game that i can think off. I've also died several times now to enemies in fights, the old zeldas never had enemies like this.

Reddit is saying changing output to 1080i helps with framerate on the wiiu

Decided to not get a Switch (Not buying a $300 console just for Zelda, especially when BotW was supposed to be a Wii U game originally). Downloading the game from the eShop on the Wii U. It's going faster than I expected but still slow compared to steam. Steam can max out my connection at 30MB/s. Download is 9754MB, its 25% complete with 1 hour 20 minutes remaining.

There are a lot of comparison gameplay videos now and they look identical.

Digital foundry makes it sound like the game runs at a solid 30 fps in the handheld mode.

Maybe they should have included a 720p mode for the docked mode too.

Metacritic gives Zelda a 98, putting it in the 6 top rated games of all time.

http://www.metacritic.com/browse/gam...l/all/filtered

Interesting that the only game that actually has a higher score is also Zelda.

I feel like Zelda games, like GTA, while are generally great games get a lot of leeway in reviews. Games like Skyward Sword and Spirit Tracks which over time were considered not so great, initially got great reviews.

Anyways I already picked up my copy (Wii U) and there was an update pushed through today. Wondering what it fixes.

Yeah I read that but heard it was only confirmed to be what the update was for the Switch version.

Most likely is the same though.

I've got pretty positive initial feelings about the game. I've been playing in handheld mode, and it looks nice and seems to run well.

Goddamn UPS!!! Where's my freakin' packages?!?!

I hate UPS. I don't know why anyone (*cough* Gamestop *cough*) uses them for shipping. I actually had them blacklisted on my Amazon account. They basically have to either ship via FedEx or DHS now.

F*ck UPS. That is all.

I played the game for about an hour so far. Initial impressions are very positive. I've got a good sense of the gameplay and I must say I can start to see that all those stellar reviews have merit.

I can see myself needing to dedicate some serious time to this game though. Very easy to get side tracked from your destination and just start exploring elsewhere. At least from the outset the world seems so filled with wonder and things to go and check out.

Also very happy to see its got a bit of challenge to it compared to past Zelda games.

Also tried 1080i but haven't noticed a difference honestly, performance still shitty. Too bad the game is so good otherwise

Can't see why 1080i would make a difference game runs at 720p regardless of what you choose.

It's supposed to run at 900p when the Switch is docked.

I've played about an hour so far, and am enjoying it so far. I just finished Skyward Sword a few months back (on the Wii) and it's a huge graphical upgrade from that!

I'm enjoying being able to climb and the magnetism thing was fun too.

Can see I will be playing this for a lot of hours, Feels like my type of game only an hour in, Horizon Zero Dawn will probably get put on the back burner for a while now. The urge to explore is great when you first start, I want to find everything and I haven't even made it to the first point on the map.

Nintendo really needs to implement a 720p option for the docked mode, I want the performance of the handheld mode on my tv.

All of the random slowdowns are gone in the handheld mode, and it looks great on the 6" 720p screen, but the pro controller>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>the joycons.

I can tell Nintendo devs have been playing Ubisoft open world games lol.

One thing I have to admit though, I honestly didn't know the Wii U was capable of these visuals. Might just be the superb art style but this game is drop dead gorgeous. I love the cell shaded characters.

Yeah, the Joycons are tiny. I've got tiny hands, and still have a bit challenges with the layout of the R. L is fine for me. The small bumper buttons I can just about manage, but the R stick is either too far down to be reached with the tip of the thumb easily, and a bit too short to be used with middle parts of the thumb, either. I used the Joycon Grip in handheld mode.

Just realized how big the world is. Going to take awhile to finish up and explore this whole world.
