I hope the rumors about the thing being region free are true then.

You're definitely in the minority on that. Zelda (along with Mario) are the very definitions of system sellers.

In this case its a little different though since its also coming out for Wii U. This might end up being a bit of a misstep for Nintendo though. I'm thinking it may turn out that in hindsight they should have scrapped the Wii U port and just focused on making it an exclusive for the Switch. Unless it turns out they didn't have to scale back on anything because of the Wii U version.

Game collectors will love the Wii U version though, as it will probably the most valuable one to own.

Well its not the first time this happened.
Twilight Princess came out on Wii at launch, and then later on Gamecube. I think the game was exactly the same save the motion controls that they took out for the GCN version.

Me neither. I feel like all of the console Zelda since Ocarina of Time have been pretty much the same without a lot of variation in their gameplay mechanics (Majora's Mask being the exception). I've sort of lost interest.

Wind Waker is probably my favorite (post-N64) Zelda game. Just brilliant in nearly every respect.

People who shat on that game simply don't understand Zelda games, and Nintendo games in general, are about GAMEPLAY.

Not to mention, that game plays very similar to Ocarina.

I liked the visuals in wind waker, but I though TP had better dungeons.

The new trailer looks really good. Way too much money for the system and it is not even bundled with anything.

I'm suspecting they will pull a Twilight Princess... i.e. delay the Wii U version a month or two and intentionally gimp it in some way. Especially considering how few Switch launch titles there are.

DOF and Alpha effects seems to cause slowdowns in this build.

None, but a new system so I was expecting more power for the game to be able to use. They are using a lot of graphical techniques they havent used in other zeldas though.

Well considering the Switch can run Mario Kart 8 at 1080p vs 720p on the wii U and Zelda at 900p/solid 30fps vs 720p with crappy fps on Wii U I'd say the switch is noticeably faster

So every hands on has said that the Wii U version of Zelda runs a bit smoother but isn't as sharp (due to resolution differences).

Sorry but $300 is too much for a small resolution bump.

Zelda on the Wii U can not be compared with the switch as it was an earlier build. Seems like a stupid comparison at the moment.

The gpu is definitely faster... it's those ARM cores that I'm most concerned about.

Those arm cores are faster than the cheap crap that was in the Wii u, plus all console cpu's are horrendous dog **** compared to even a cheap ass pc cpu.

Seriously it's baffling, a nicer cpu would boost some games a lot, for example the witcher 3 is massively cpu bogged on consoles.

I don't care much about the graphics but the game running at 30fps or sometimes even less is a MAJOR issue for me. Got spoiled playing pc games at +60fps.

Get it on CEMU when it comes out and hope theres a gfx pack to run at 60fps (not sure if the game's fps is tied to physics)

Requires 3gb install on Wii U version, due to blu-ray being slower than the cartridges.

Not as bad as xenoblade at least.

That would be true if the Wii U did use Blu-Ray but rather than DVD.

Wii U discs are Blu-Ray without the Blu-Ray license (hence no movies, just like no DVD movies because of no DVD mpeg license for the original Wii).

Back in May of last year, I added a 120gb SSD on my Wii U. In total, for the case, drive, and cable it was $59.33. Well worth it upgrade, plenty fast, and can run off of the Wii U's USB power. If you add a USB splitter to it ($9.99), you can still charge a USB peripheral or add a USB ethernet adapter ($10.05) to you Wii U.

If you're interested in BotW on Wii U, this is the way to go. Plus, I have all of the Xenoblade DLC (i.e. cache files) with no worries.
