Watched Run. Same director as Searching (which I loved). Thought this was a pretty awesome thriller. This guy knows how to hook you on relatively simple plots.

The book was muuuuuch better than the movie. A lot about JD’s progression out of the hillbilly culture from his time in the marines, through college and law school, and his relationship with his wife that was omitted.

Da 5 Bloods (2020) - 6/10

Decent movie but some parts a bit over the top. Also, not a fan of the way they did the flashbacks (including the explanation for the way the flashbacks were done by interviews of Spike Lee).

Wrinkles (2011) - 7.5/10

I finally got a chance to check this out. I saw a trailer for this years ago. This is a translated version with American actors voicing the characters. Although, interestingly, they kept all the names to be Hispanic which seemed a bit odd. Still, a good movie.

Keaunu was horribly horribly miscast in that. And whoever wrote or directed that character to be so droll and unlikable really fkt up. One of the good things about the original was how charming and debonair the alien was. Instead of giving him some throw-away role, they should have had Jon Hamm play the alien. Or how about John Cleese?
