Btw, this is a Great Quote...

ATI's taping out means that those people who were waiting until February for NV30 might as well give up and buy Radeons now for little Timmy, or else wait a little bit into February and buy a Radeon 9900 Pro. µ

there was an article on Firingsquad.com or Xbitlabs or from somewhere, a few weeks ago, that reported the R350 had taped out.

So when will the R350 cards be out? What will be the enhancements? This is getting interesting.

Noko..

-Faster than a Speeding bullet
-More Powerful than a Locamotive
-Able to lead Tall buildings in a Single Bound..

when???

-Sooner than you think..
-Soon Enough that Nvidia Types will sing many Sad songs to themselves.
-Soon enough for the R400 to be introcuded 6 moths later.. in JULY/AUG.

There I have Spelled it out for you...

R350 in Feb-March, is my guess.

with a new updated core (tho not a totally new arch)
faster core with faster, better memory.

9 posts (+ mine) and no fanboy attacks on this thread yet?? wtf is happening?
anyone has any ideas on what new features it'll have besides the speed bump (ddr2 (if it's in the 9900) + higher core/mem clocks is a speed bump, not a "feature" for this post's reference, i mean 'real' features like fullstream, n-patches, etc..)?

Well Orton said "enhanced" core with optimizations and size reduction kinda like 9000 over 8500 and u have got to admit 1/4 the price for 90% of performance is not bad
I am looking forward to it also .

Ouch, your voice hurt my ears~~! I know, I know, R300King!. But since guys are excited about this, let them talk~~! Do you guys think they will keep the 256 bit ram system for the RV350?

Not sure...if I HAD to guess I would say yes. I think the RV350 will be 130nm version of an R350 (but with lower clock speed, and 1 or 2 less improvements than the R350...just as a first test the 130nm process.)

Then the R350 will be ATI's solid next chip(just like the R300 was the chip they were banking on when they released it.)

The R400 will be much improved and definately a next generation chip. This chip is coming out earlier than their normal cycle(July - They will release this chip same day next year as they did the R300) because of their 2 design teams now. Not sure of the R400 features but you can bet it will also be on 130nm too.

Those are MY guesses.

my guesses:

RV350 will either be a low cost 0.13 version of the R300 or the R350. possibly with less pipes. maybe only 4 pipes instead of the 8 pipes in R300 and R350. it might have most of the new features/improvements of the R350 but who knows.

R350, an improved version of the R300 core. yes, R350 is a new core, although not an all new architeture (that's R400)
R350 should differ from R300 as much as NV25 differed from NV20. or as much as NV15 differed from NV10. R350 will have 8 pipes like R300, but the pixel shaders will be improved somewhat. how much, well that's impossible to say. perhaps there will be more vertex shaders, which would further distant ATI from Nv in terms of how many polys can be done per MHz. Additional vertex shaders shouldn't increase the transistor count too much. the amount of TMUs will likely stay the same, though there will be improvements to the TMUs efficenty I would think. R350 will likely weigh in at 120-130M transistors.

The R400 will be the next generation part from ATI, obviously.
I'd almost expect 16 pipelines and around 200 million or more transistors. if R350 does not already support vertex shader and pixel shader 3.0 then R400 most certainly will. R400 will no doubt have DDR-II if not GDDR-3. perhaps R350 will have already had DDR-II before R400 shows up. that would make sense. R400 will beat anything that Nvidia has in 2003, including NV35. unless Nvidia makes some dramatic move in accelerating the introduction of NV40 which I highly doubt.

No. A lightyear is the distance light travels in one Earth year.
