![]() Nintendo did more than just slap these games straight into an emulator...as I already said they would. They didn't put a lot of work in though and I'd only give Nintendo 5/10 for what they've done. All three games could easily run at 1080p/60fps but they don't. It looks like the most work was done to Mario Sunshine. I'm sure these games will get a patch or two to improve a few things but I wouldn't expect frame rate or resolution bumps |

Some of these decisions are strange, especially for Mario64... Hell there's community recompiled and recompiled versions available on the Switch that are superior in every way, and that's a little embarrassing. But I get it, that Nintendo is using this collection as a proof of concept for emulating these platforms move ng forward. I fully expect to see Nintendo release more and more games from those eras. There's nothing fundamentally wrong with the emulation route, and I in some cases it may be the most efficient route to get stuff done. As long as these games run smoothly and aren't bottlenecked by the emulation, it's a perfectly fine strategy. Hopefully they'll patch Mario64 to run in widescreen. I desperately wish they'd get Sunshine working in 60fps, but nintendo's not microsoft, right? |

![]() I’m not expecting full blown remakes, but some work would have been nice. Or instead make a galaxy duo pack, then I’d be maybe sorta more interested.

![]() So I spent some time with 3d All Stars this morning, and here are my thoughts:
Hopefully they'll continue to update this collection over time. Here are the biggest items I want them to fix, in order of priority:

I still have my Gamecube and Wii so I can still play Sunshine and BOTH Mario Galaxy 1&2 It struck me that the name is Mario 3D All-Stars...kinda hinting that this is a collection of the All-Star 3D Mario games. You'd think that they'd also include Super Mario 3D World at the least because that's also a big 3D title and then they'd have one from each of their previous 3D consoles (N64, Gamecube, Wii, WiiU). Nintendo being the greedy Disney-like bastards that they are ![]() |

But the omission of Galaxy 2 was a huge oversight, that should have been included in the collection, theres no reason why it shouldnt have been.

![]() Metroid Dread is the big announcement (2d metroid) Theres also a new warioware and a Super Mario party remix/remastered collection? Im guessing they're taking the good minigames from the old ones into this new one? Life is Strange and Guardians of the Galaxy (most likely cloud version, but isnt indicated) are notable 3rd party titles coming. Oh and a Tekken guy in smash.

![]() New Switch Announced.... Disappointing... 1.) OLED 7" display... Why? ![]() 2.) 64GB Onboard Storage 3.) Enhanced Audio 4.) New Dock with Wired Ethernet Port ![]() Everyone hoping for a Switch Pro that would do 4K with DLSS on a new Nvidia Tegra is seriously disappointed. https://www.ign.com/articles/switch-...ced-oled-model

![]() Xenoblade 2 is going to look fabulous on that OLED at 320x240 or whatever shitty res that game is running at. ![]() The switch really needs a spec bump, all those games running at a dynamic res will benefit from it. |

![]() I think people were overly optimisic about the Switch Pro. The funny thing is...this looks like its supposed to fill the somewhat non-existant gap between the Switch and the Switch Lite lol. Switch for docked mode Switch OLED for the nicer screen in tablestop or handheld modes Switch lite for Handheld only.

It just seems like a 3ds > 3ds XL situation, where the XL eventually just became the only 3ds model. With that said i also wont be surprised now if the Switch Pro ends up being the successor console for the next generation of switch. I would hope by this time they run it on say the Tegra X3 or equivalent, since X2 would likely be old hat by the time switch pro/2/etc comes out (if they continue to use Tegra).

![]() I don't think Nintendo has ever released a revision of a console with significantly more powerful specs. They just never do that so it shouldn't have been expected. They usually go for a revision that's more efficiently manufactured cost-wise, with some slight improvements. |

![]() Was it really? I was really only speaking for their mainline home consoles. The NES up to the Wii U and Switch. Honestly I never keep up with the handheld stuff. Of course Switch is now a hybrid but I still consider it a standard console. |

![]() Yes, New 3ds was quite a bit more powerful. There's no reason not to upgrade the Switch given it's just an Arm based Nvidia processor. |

![]() Nintendo doesn't, They keep improving the handheld side of the console, but the docked mode is the same slow ass mode. Switch 2nd revision has like 2x the battery life? Switch Lite handheld only Switch OLED Docked has Ethernet port (yay ![]() It's a nice device if you're a first time buyer, but meh Nintendo games themselves are even struggling to keep the framerate. Bowsers Fury has frequent drops, Hyrule Warrior the latest one by Dynasty Warrior guys runs like dogshit. If you guys want Switch Pro, I suggest Ryujinx or Yuzu ![]()

NES and SNES both had one, but i think they were just physical revisions (plus maybe chipset efficiciency? But these didnt affect performance. N64 and Gamecube i dont think had any. Wii had a wii mini which eliminated gamecube support. Wii-U didnt have. Switch so far has 2 revisions (original switch > the enhanced chipset switch with the better battery life > This OLED model) and Switch Lite. DS line had a whole whack of revisions, mainly just feature additions (like the XL for larger screen, Lite for smaller size, etc). 3DS and new 3DS is probaly the only one where they really had any significant hardware revision. I dont think it really lasted long as it fragmented the game support since "new" 3ds games only worked on New 3DS and not the regular one. I honestly dont know if the 3ds line eventually just used the newer chipset until now and dropped the "new" moniker.

On the docked side all you need is the horsepower...and with the switch the limiting factor is the chipset, and theres nothing more that can be done unless they unlock the full clockspeeds. But then they'd need to do something about the cooling as i dont think a docked cooling solution would do much to keep the thing from overheating.

![]() Yes, I have all Nintendo's consoles as well their revisions. Not counting handhelds like New 3DS, none of them ever had "improved performance." Was just making the point that historically Nintendo never does this, unlike Microsoft and Sony which have. |

I dont recall any of the older ones having the same things happening to them. Just the typical die shrink/efficiency revisions that always happen.
