Oddly enough, I experienced this myself recently and was like WTF? I minimized the game window to see if I could figure out what was going on and found two minimized Halo Infinites running in the background. Closed those up and when I went back to the game, it was back to buttery smooth. This would lead me to believe it’s a system bottleneck as KAC has suggested.

Game Pass (for Xbox or PC) is only worth it if you play a lot of games, right? I only really play games I am really interested in which aren't many. It would be better for me to outright buy the game rather than use Game Pass, correct?

Are there games in Gamepass you're interested in right now? They are always adding plus all first party are day one.

To me it's a no brainer. I try way more games this way and if I don't like them it's no issue moving on to another.

Couple of games a year and you have your money back. No-brainer really.

Oh and if you have Xbox and P.C. you can play co-op on one game pass.

Yup. Gamepass is worth it if you would have bought 2 $60 games per year.

I love Gamepass because I end up sampling alot more games than actually playing through them. These days I rarely dive deeply into a game.

Is Game Pass exclusive to the Microsoft Store? Asking because EA Play is also available on Steam.

Edit: Yes it is and you get an EA Play membership with Game Pass.

My local gamestop had about half-a-dozen series x for in-store pickup. So I grabbed my xb1x and ps4 pro for a trade-in. Both fetched $280 each and with the $100 gift card, I broke dead even. I'm now fully next gen

update: the series x was part of a bundle so it was not the standard $499.

Digital Foundry's podcast this week, had some discussion about whether or not Sony or Microsoft could try to enter the handheld market. One point that really struck me, is that the Series S spec is far more likely to be within reach of a steamdeck-style portable device in the upcoming years.

Could it be that this is xbox's strategy... To have a lower-end sku that all games are compatible with, in preparation for an eventual portable? If so, it's pretty genius. It would be nearly impossible for Sony to follow suit, as every studio would have to release an updated lower-tier version of every game in order to make the compatible, whereas the Xbox ecosystem already has that support built in to their library.

As great as this may be, I think it's rather obvious Microsoft is concentrating their efforts on the cloud. All I can see in the future is them relying on mobile devices to stream their games with their Game Pass subscription.
