Default thinking of replacing broken above range microwave...have questions

instead of spending money on installation, i'm thinking of just replacing the thing myself.
current one is hooked up to a vent that go straight up through the shelf.
is the vent exhaust on these over the range microwaves located in the same general area on the top?
the current microwave is not that old (relatively speaking). it's probably around 5-6 years old.

help appreciated, thanks.

The couple that I've dealt with could output either at the back or the top... you configure it. Should come with an adapter to connect to the venting and/or mounting plates. Would think they'd all have venting in the same place.... so far the two rear ones I've don't have been... centered l/r and toward the top. I'd imaging the top venting is dead-center, but couldn't say for sure.. never really paid attention to the option I wasn't going to use.

I have replaced a couple over the years and both of them had the venting in the correct place. But you have the buy the correct type of over the range unit. Just ask at the store and they will get to the correct unit. (If they are not morons)

These above stove top models break way too easily. I have a counter top one thats 25 years old and was dirt cheap. Still works fine.
