I still admire your enthusiasm for this platform, even in the face of non-existent big player apps or apps that seem half done. Perhaps they are still given iOS priority building iOS 7 apps according to their new design spec, and working on Windows Phone 8 in their "20% time".

I guess that depends on your definition of "big player(s)"..

NFL ,. check
ESPN,. check
Amazon, check
Facebook,. check
Pandora, Spotify, Rhapsody, Netflix, Hulu, TuneMeIn, YouTube.. check, check, check, check and check
FlashVideo, Twitch, JustinTV, Shazam, .. and yes, multilple AngryBirds and or course Halo, Assassins Creed, FinalFantasy, Modern Combat 4...
6sec (a better Vine app), yep..
IM+, ditto
so on and so forth..

There is nothing on an iPhone that I would want to do that I cant do on WP8.. this isnt 2011 anymore. Windows Phone is the fastest growing Mobile OS is MANY emerging markets, (such as India with it's 1 BILLION+ potential users).. yeah lets ignore that shall we.

It doesn't have some of the 'flavor of the month' apps.
Like instagram, although some of the 3rd party alternatives are apparently very very good (I think 6tag was even endorsed/approved by the Instagram guys. They went so far as to get the creator to rename the app so it didn't have 'gram' in it.... )

Recent update finally made it to the UK; updated this morning on my 920.

Phone feels snappier; a few apps launch noticably faster which is nice (camera is pretty much instantly active now).

The 'peek' functionality is nice to have again; pull phone from pocket and it automagically shows me the time and any status updates.

Finally got a data usage app so which tracks wifi and data usage per app which is nice

SMS and call blocking functionality is a welcome addition even if I'm unlikely to use it any time soon.

The new nokia camera app looks pretty awesome too; not had chance to play with it as yet too much however.

All in all a nice update, probably plenty of other functionality I've not found yet to play with but the slight increase in responsiveness alone is worth it

Apps are great (and you don't have all of them), OS sucks.

On WP8, apps are decent, OS is great.

Android continues to have the best of both worlds.

Apparently you have a big and continuing problem with something that has a better balance, and technically is even more of a non-issue.

Meanwhile, AT&T still won't gets through to approves GDR2 update for Nokia Lumia models. How childish this company is...

it appears a few telcos are holding out for GDR3, not sure if AT&T is one of those.. I may pick up a 920 if it receives GDR3 in addition to the 1020.

No idea why, Nokia has cleared it, ATT already has the 925 running GDR2 on it's network, The 1020 has GDR2.

For a "premier" partner, they sure as hell are slacking.

The GDR2 deployment is supposed to be completed by the end of September, so let's see what happens.

Ah interesting...well, we'll see.

One question, does GDR3 have GDR2 updates too, right?

It should, but the GDR updates are relatively minor compared to 8.1.

I REALLY want the peek feature, I could care less about the rest of the stuff at this point. Well, I guess I want to check out the new camera as well

All I need is to have a locked rotation screen, multi-tasking with "marked X" allows to closed, improve the Internet Explorer, and some fixed bugs. Pretty much is what I need. That's it. Everything else working great for me to use my Lumia 920.

Oh, you were trying to order a lumia 1020 from the website? Amazon or something? Are they run out of stock already?

I know you can backup the text to the cloud (see link below), but I haven't gone into Skydrive, or Outlook.com to see if I can dl into a text file

http://www.windowsphone.com/en-us/ho...ck-up-my-stuff

Give it a shot, look at the backup location you are using for the data and see if it allows you to save as a different file.

Is there a fix for skipping mp3's? Meaning when any mp3 is playing, the mp3 skips or glitches, it seems that for me on my phone it skips backwards a few seconds & repeats.

It's very annoying!!

I've noticed this as well with podcasts. I'll suddenly be sometimes up to 3 minutes in the past.

The AT&T GDR2 release never happened. It was released by Nokia in the beginning of August and AT&T is the last one I think to be withholding the update, even though it sells phones with the update on them. GDR3 is being released next month. Within, 3 months, the 920 will be 2 updates behind. That alone is making me think about switching to a Nexus device or the unthinkable, iphone.

I haven't experienced this on my phone.

What are you using for playback? If your are having issues with the Xbox music player, try the Nokia Music app to play your MP3's, it's a solid product. If the issue repeats, the problem is most likely either the actual MP3 or the hardware.

ATT released an update saying "soon" for the GDR2 release.

They have been absolutely slow in this release, and I am likewise thinking of jumping on the bandwagon for the next Nexus device. I'll keep my 920 though I want to experience the ecosystem and, if GDR2 rolls out sooner rather than later, I might just stick to WP8.

Great...this is what happened when MS let carriers to do whatever as they want. But unlike Apple, they rather control the iPhone and they could update it easily.

Oh, and when is GDR3 update coming again?

Part of the issue is ATT jumped the gun previously with an earlier release and messed up many phones. This time it seems they are either overly cautious or too busy boning Apple

According to ATT, GDR2 officially arrives tomorrow:

“AT&T has completed testing the Nokia Lumia 820/920 Windows Phone software update on our network. We expect Microsoft to make the update available beginning 10/10. When the software update is available for you to download, Windows Phone will notify you so you can download it directly over a Wi-Fi connection. We appreciate your patience.”

Hasn't reached my phone yet but Nokia states it is now available.

Edit: It has hit my phone now, I'll wait for wifi to download it and a power source. It better fix the audio problems I've been having.

New update seems nice. I'm liking the glance screen and the glance background app that got released today. No complaints ,yet.
