Default HDTV and HDTV cables selection help please

Sorry, if I can't seem to find all my answers using the search function.

My family is looking to purchase a 50" (+2 or 3 inches maybe) HDTV for about 2600 or so (not including taxes and cables etc). Which ones are great? I am thinking of the latest generations of lcds or dlps.

I don't now if it REALLY makes a difference to buy a certain type of HDTV cables for my HDTV. If it doesn't, I really just want to only buy the 20 dollar HD PACK from Microsoft. I also have the Vdigi vd-z3 which allows the xbox to connect to a pc monitor and get progressive scan.

I have a XBOX and I have A R9700pro video card for my computer. I want to know how to connect each of them to the HDTV properly without distortion. The HDTV I might purchase may or may not already have a normal computer vga input. In either cases, how would I hook my computer up to it? Instead of buying monster cables, could I use my vd-z3 to go from XBOX -> HDTV using the PC input on the HDTV?

Also, is it true that HDTV have the ability to stretch or unstretch vertically and/or horizontally? Meaning black bars on top and bottom or sides? Since I know that most DVDs have a widescreen format where top and bottom are black bars. How to rid of those black bars since the HDTV is widescreen and not 4:3?

My last question is how to handle the resolutions since I have dual display (two pc monitors) and I have a HDTV. Do I have to have all 3 of them the same resolution in order to work?

Thanks for your help in advance!!

Okay first off, you gotta tell us if your HDTV will have a DVI input. DVI would be MUCH better than standard VGA as it is a pure digital connection. After you tell us this, then we can get on to the other stuff.

More than likely it will since all the next-gen seem to have it. But if not, what is the solution?
