OK Nunz with no over clock I get 12,578 in Port Royal.

Graphics score in timespy is 19,076 and in fire strike I get 31,232. Nothing over clocked looks good to me TBH.

Don’t think Port Royal has large deltas due to CPU. Maybe 200-400 points. 13K seems to be on the low side. Maybe clock that mofo to 2 Gs and bench?

I've done the synthetic benchmarks and my scores were where they should be so moved onto some gaming fun last night. Played a few races in Forza Horizon 4 with some settings set to extreme (copied from Geforce experience) was averaging 165fps.

Played Madden 2020 and my monitor's FPS counter never moved off 144 and with all settings maxed out it's a great looking game. Enjoying.

14300+ is relatively easily doable on a 3090 without any fancy gimmick(s) (exotic XOC bios)

This is with game rock 3090 OC with 470 Watt power limit (111%) nothing else touched.

I have heard that it is getting difficult to get as a high a score with newer drivers

I think it's hilarious that a 12-core AMD chip loses to my 10900K and I'm not even overclocked as hard as it can go.

What I have seen is you can get some nice scores w/ a 5900X and 6900XT combo. Either way, yes in 3dmark the AMD CPU doesn't seem to be optimized enough. I routinely see only 2 cores boosting to 4.65-4.7 Gs during the bench probably why the scores are 200-400 points lower.

Good effort KAC but with your rig balls to the walls O/C'd you still can't beat my stock 3090 scores in 3DMark or Port Royal. I know your card cost a third less than mine but if I did a similar O/C I'd knock you out of the ball park. TBH I'm not interested in synthetic benchmarks anymore I just enjoy gaming.

Do you use this O/C for games or purely for bench marking? If only for bench marks you'll be even further behind me in gaming. You pays your money you get your choice I guess.

but it's a big deal when you upgrade from the equivalent of a 980 ti to a 1800 buck 3090

Well those of us with 1440p displays surely don't think so, plenty of games will tax a 3090 @ 1440p, especially if you want triple digit FPS.

I get your point though, KAC has done awesome benchies with his rig, perhaps the "suck my dick" run was over the top?

You still have top 3080 scores here, right?

Every review shows that the 3090 does not scale well compared to a 3080 under 4K. I think the "suck my dick" was funny because I've harassed him endlessly over his scores. Trying to come in here and flex that your stock running card is beating people who are having fun tweaking blows my mind.

On a more serious note I have been looking at 4K monitors but TBH I'm struggling to understand what's the point. I'd be swapping 1440p 144hz for 4K 60fps max in most games. I see there are 4K 100/120hz monitors appearing but no current graphics card can hit those numbers and the price is astronomical. I get the fidelity is better in 4K but I lose the FPS by a big margin.

Have you tried a game in 1440p at 144hz everything Ultra or Extreme? It's very nice. No need for DLSS either whether you like it or not. Here's an old link referencing 4k vs 1440p. https://www.kitguru.net/peripherals/...e-my-thoughts/

I get about 100fps in BFV Trileau with Ultra RTX and no DLSS. I won't get that with 4K but it might look nicer which I won't really appreciate. I've also been looking at 144hz WQHD monitors and they seem to make more sense to me. Only issue is some games don't support that resolution so don't fancy black bars on the screen.

Personally I only play first person shooters and racing/sports Sims so maybe I'm biased to better FPS over better fidelity. Obviously this is my own personal opinion so please respond with why you think 4K is better without slagging off 1440p. I'm keen to understand if it's worth it from someone who actually plays at that resolution.

Come on Bill the 5700XT is a bit better than a 980ti Still at 1440p in some games I'm getting 100% better performance so what's not to like. So it cost me £1,550 am I bothered no. That's life lets move on.
