Again the key here is how much you put on, you shouldn't be able to smell someones cologne in a room unless you get up and close to them, thats how its suppose to be, those who leave a dead zone in their path of cheap cologne smell of course would be annoying, too much of anything is no good.

EDIT: If you mean you hate the smell of ANY perfume/cologne no matter what then I don't know. I think the point of it is that besides making you smell good, the smell is suppose to remind you of said girl/guy, thats how its worked for me, there are perfumes, some of which I don't know the name of, that if I smelled right now, id probably go ape **** thinking about said person again.

I have used a bunch of them but only one stood up there as the one most noticeable mostly because i would get random girls come up to me and ask what cologne i was using that smelled so good. You feel so good about yourself when chicks ask you about it lol. It has this strong scent so it's best used at night thats why i don't use it much during the day and when i do i use as little as possible just to get the right attention.

well i guess so, but literally every person outside who wears cologne put WAY too much on, so much that it is intrusive: walking past a person on the street and being in an elevator with them, and being overpowered by the stench is one of the most annoying things.
how do you know that you don't put too much?

I can tell ive put too much if I can still smell the hardness of it after a 10-20 minutes, usually 1 shot to the neck is all you need and thats all it take for the entire day for me.

Nautica Voyage for me... I remember getting one by Salvatore Ferragamo that smelled nice, don't remember the name, if it had any.

armani code
van cleef and arpels midnight in paris
creed silver mountain water
polo #3 - not a sample

however the creed silver really stood out for me, and so did the lhomme

Any suggestions? I like subtle stuff that keeps people thinking where the smell is coming from. What do you guys use for cologne?

Creed should stand out, it's a niche fragrance house that uses all natural ingredients. It makes it pretty expensive, to procure things such as ambergris (whale vomit) rather than using synthetic. Each batch is hand made, so there are even variances from bottle to bottle. I like Tabarome, Adventus, and the popular Green Irish Tweed.

Since you mentioned it, this is why people spray 2 liters on themselves every time, because they think that it goes away quickly if they spray just a little when in fact its themselves who get used to the smell and don't feel it anymore which is an effect called olfactory fatigue.

^ Cool info, but in my case (since I put on so little) it's probably just that the cologne lost its potency.

Also perfumes and colognes have expiry dates people. That 10 yr old bottle is well past stale.

I just got their green irish tweed sample, smells very fresh something you could wear all the time, its a very manly smell, but damn they are expensive, 2oz bottle is like $150, still I wouldn't mind buying 1 since its so well made, the smell goes good with the smell of trees. L'homme at Green Irish tweed is what ill be wearing this month
