Default Might be time to retire my BlackBerry...

I'm currently using a BB Z30, but I'm starting to get more than a little annoyed with it. The phone is still rock solid, super battery life, no screen issues, but I'm just getting tired of being my own tech support and doing factory resets because I had to load a modified Google Play library and account manager...because apps... No more cell account app support for BB 10 as of this month, no online banking apps for any of the banks I use, no music/multimedia apps, no business lookup apps any more, etc. The BlackBerry map app rocks, but I need more than a GPS for my phone.

I'm not a huge fan of iPhones because they seem overpriced for what you get, and there are a bajillion Android phones out there. If I do upgrade, my ceiling with be in the $450CDN range, so nothing too fancy. I do understand that I'm not going to get a nearly indestructible phone any more.

Suggestions anyone?

I don't really see how an iPhone is overpriced when it's priced right in line with the rest of the market.

That said, look into OnePlus. This starts at $439 (assuming USD):

This starts at $299:

did your Z30 update last night? Our unlocked ones on Telus did.
Other than google play store, I'm glad I'm not having the app issues you are, must be a pain.
Anyhow.. don't the newer BB Android phones have some kind of HUB? That might make your transition a little easier.

OP, you do know BB uses Android now, right? You can get the best of both worlds.

Except that BB is shutting down the manufacturing arm now too. Good luck w/ support.

Overpriced? Have you seen prices on Samsung phones?

Yes, and that's why they haven't been making my list either. I'm not spending $800 to a grand on a phone.

Yeah, I'm not ruling out BlackBerry Android phones (the DTEK-50 seemed about right), but I'm still a bit sour over the whole "runs Android" thing with the Z30. It was billed as running both BlackBerry OS apps and Android apps (sideloaded at first, and then through the crapfest that is the Amazon app store after update 10.3.2), but it won't ever officially run Google Play apps (which is pretty much the entire mainstream Android universe).

Elysian - that OnePlus 2 looks pretty much right on (out of stock now, unfortunately...we'll see later).

Another phone I saw that looked about right was the Asus ZenFone 3. Anyone try one of these?

I'd go with the Oneplus 3T right now if I could

Really, all of the flagship phones are arguably overpriced. For many uses a midrange phone or one or two generations old flagship will operate just fine for less than half the price.

Every high end phone is overpriced. Apple moreso since they tack on like an extra $200 for the 'apple tax'.

BB isnt giving up on supporting phones the only thing that changed is HW design will now be done by other manufacturers while BB concentrates on updating the software side of things for all BB phones and BB apps. Im looking forward to some cool designs next year. With the S8 reportedly coming out in an edgeless 6.2" Id love to see a BB phone done that way. Maybe Xiaomi can do a bigger production run of its edgeless 6.4" MiMix with BB/android.

And improve the camera a bit...
