Oh no, they made an installer for Windows. Just copying where you liked it is what I liked about Firebird.

This is where I get off FireFox. Installers **** up everything, they steal, infest the computer with garbage and behave bad in general. They usually don't even tidy things up after them.

The ONLY thing good about Mozilla Firebird was the absence of an installer? Geez.

Actually Thunderfox is a better name than Firefox. When I hear the name Firefox I can only think of a poor fox that accidently lit itself.

No, there is an open source database project named Firebird. Mozilla.org wants to keep the open source brands from overlapping, if possible.

I know when Firefox steals the associations. It's when you press the button when you want it to become your default browser. This also applies for 0.7 as well. That's very bad behaviour.

I use Firefox as my default browser and jpg files are still associated with IrfanView as they always were since I set it that way. It seems to me IrfanView doesn't easily give up it's associated extensions. BTW I didn't use the Firefox installer.

I'm not sure about this.

One of the things I like about Firebird .7 is that it does not require some big
install. All you have to do is make a folder for it under C:\Program Files\ and
then unzip it into there. Create a shortcut to the EXE and you are done. No
muss, no fuss.

Does the FireFox installer kind of get its hooks into anything? That is what
I'm trying to avoid.

Thanks.

IMHO, the only difference between installing and running it directly from a folder is the start menu entries and the "add/remove programs" registry entries. And then we have the "make default browser" option that makes a few file associations (jpg, htm, png,...) apart from doing what´s supposed to do, I.E. making Firefox the default browser.

Also, I think that this release eliminates the Java install bug (which was solved before by merging a .REG file).

I guess I'm talking about copying files into the SYSTEM folder, littering INI and CFG
files in folders other than its own - you know - that kind of stuff.

Yes, I understood what you meant, and I did a quick check and found nothing.
Seems like quite a clean installer. There´s just the uninstaller .exe in the Windows folder.
