Not really. The FireGL will run games as good as the Radeon on most of the games. But when come to 3D apps, FireGL is way better than the Radeon.

Not what i have heard or read, i heard that the radeon is geared up more for gaming and the fire gl is better for 3d apps to create games and ****, its a workstation card not a gaming card.

WHat it boils down to is drivers. The hardware is pretty much identical (maybe a resister to tell the system what the card is fireGL/Radeon)

You are paying for the drivers and nothing else really and rightfully so as those high dollar apps require high dollar drivers to support them which is why FireGL costs more.

The FireGL is better at openGL and most 3D app are openGL(its about 10% to 20% faster then Radeons in OpenGL). The problem with the FireGL drivers is its not a full DX support so the DX games will be slower by about 35% to 45% and will have many bugs because the driver team don't update the DX side much like ones a year.
