![]() I couldn't use ATI's VCD player with any VCD I burned. I just use WinDVD to play them. My home DVD player is the same way, it'll play "real" VCDs but it won't play VCDs on a CDR ![]() |

![]() It depends on the type of vcd you're burning. If it's VCD, which uses MPG1, then you can use anything, including media player. If it's SVCD format, it uses MPG2, which needs to be viewed with dvd software. Note that when you burn a vcd, the video file is located in the mpg folder on hte cd, and is named AVSEQ01.DAt or something. .so if you're using media player, you'll have to tell it to open the dat file. but its' basically just a renamed mpg file. www.vcdhelp.com has tons of info on the different formats, compatible DVD players, how to rip DVD to VCD/SVCD etc.. Use NERO to burn your vcds. you can burn both vcd and svcd's with it. I use powerdvd to watch my svcds (which i'm assuming is vcd 2.0) and use either powerdvd or media player to watch vcd. ![]() but HOW do I burn a 1.0 or 1.1 compliamt VCD? I DON'T wanna burn a VCD 2.0 or SVCD or XVCD or HQ_VCD or CVD or anything else I wan't a pure and simple 1.0 CD that can be read by ANY VCD player be it software or standalone why doesn't a single one of these stupid apps support it? this is really pissing me of since: 1. I can't read the damn CD's I create with ATI VCD Player 2. I was going to give some movies to my kid cousin for his birthday and his VCD Player (standalone) doesn't support any format higher than 1.1 and by some logic: ATI supports "VCD captureing", they support VCD Playback and yet they do not give one single hint on how to make those stupid captures into VCD CD's and not ONE of the major buring apps support 1.0 nor 1.1 (well some claim to support it via 2.0 or 3.0 recursion but who cares since they can't actually be played in a 1.0 or 1.1 player) I searched all over the net for "VCD 1.0 creation" "VCD 1.1 burning" etc. etc. etc. and all I found was some stupid gadget controlled through commandlines that didn't even work in anything higher than win 95 PLEASE help me out sorry if I'm flaming all around but I'm two days away from that kids birthday and I was really looking forward to giving him this nice present

![]() You'll just have to use other software for playback (as ATI's DVD software sucks, I would recommend InterVideo's WinDVD, which reads VCD 2.0 just fine, or PowerDVD). |
