Default AMD Brazos and Zacate benchmarked

AMD Brazos and Zacate performance is leaking out France with some interesting results. As usual with leaked info, take with appropriate quantities of salt. Here's what Bit-tech had to say about it:

The first benchmarks of AMD's Fusion-based chips, the Brazos C-50, Brazos C-30 and Zacate E-350, have appeared - and initial impressions aren't all that favourable for the Zacate line.

As usual Bit Tech comes up with a BIG bowl of fail in their analysis when compared to actual data (see THG @ http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/asrock...w-32098-7.html - "And indeed, the Brazos platform decimates Atom in single-threaded apps, still manages to beat it decisively in more parallelized programs, and embarrasses it in anything having to do with graphics.", even beating Atom Dual core + ION by a factor for 2x) but yes lets just look at one canned benchmark that favors a specific CPU then throw in a dedicated (ie more costly) graphics solution (ION) that costs more is often slower and hardly any power consumption savings. Let's also try to forget that Tit Bech's source (bloggee.net) is a 3rd person "anonymous" source to be a truck of salt. There so called "news" doesn't come close to matching actual (pre)views

Brazos is a platform, not an APU. The APU's are Ontario and Zacate.

Quote:
“Brazos” - Markets: Value Mainstream Notebooks, HD Netbooks and Small Form Factor Desktops
“Brazos” is AMD’s 2011 low-power platform, available with two APUs;
“Zacate” – currently planned to be marketed as the E Series – is an 18-watt TDP APU for ultrathin, mainstream and value notebooks as well as desktops and all-in-ones.
“Ontario” – currently planned to be marketed as the C Series – is a 9-watt APU for netbooks and small form factor desktops and devices.

Both “Brazos” platform APUs include a DirectX® 11-capable GPU.
Planned for introduction: Q1 2011
